Batman Arkham City is a fantastic game. It is essentially Arkham Asylum, but better.  The game is much larger in scope due to the city element and Rocksteady did a good job by always having something going on in the city to make it feel alive.  The best part of this game is the best part of the previous one. You always feel like Batman and you always feel like a badass.  Rocksteady did a great job with how batman feels when he uses his grapple to get around. It's a little wierd at first but once you get the hang of it you will be flying around in no time.  The combat system is easily the backbone of the game and it seems to have been tweeked to allow for even better combos then in Arkham Asylum. Every great game does a good job with pacing and this is no different.  There is always something different to do, if you just took on 50 guys at once then in the next room you will become a predator and pick them off one by one. If you wanna give the story a rest you can fly around the city and do some side stuff a la GTA. The characters are fantastic and the joker yet again steals the show, he really is one of the best villians ever.

Batman isn't beyond reproach however, there are points in the story that are just plain stupid. I was just fighting to the death with you and now i'm gonna run some errands for you?! some of that could have been handled better for sure. The Riddler stuff is good but it is overkill. it is quantity over quality with that stuff. The riddler trophies and challenges cheapen the city. In Arkham Asylum the riddler stuff felt kinda hidden away and was a blast to find. Everywhere you look in the city there are trophies and question marks a plenty. It made the city look just plain silly.  This stuff really stands out to me because Rocksteady nails it on almost every other area, so this seemed like a poor choice.

The catwoman stuff was so damn cool. I applaud the developer for putting her in the game. she is a nice change of pace and her missions are only 5-10 minutes long anyway. Her third mission has one of the best choices in a game this year, and I love to see a developer think outside of the box with how to interact with the gamer.
    GO PLAY THIS!!

Arkham City's nothing short of a masterpiece. 0

When Arkham Aslyum was released just a bit over two years ago, I didn't know what to expect. The road for Batman games, hell, the road for any kind of licensed games were pretty terrible. But Rocksteady did the unthinkable, they created the best licensed video game ever made, until now.Arkham City is to video games what The Dark Knight is to films. It was started off on solid ground, and then takes a jackhammer to that solid ground and pounds through it, grabbing you and never letting go. Everyt...

Batman: Arkham Asylum still stands as one of my favorite games this generation, primarily for its sublime mix of combat, exploration and stealth. Batman: Arkham City is able to replicate most of those strengths in ways you’d expect, but it also dilutes the overall product by trying to cram a lot of other mediocre stuff into the package. Fans of the original looking for more will find it here, but a few rough patches make Batman: Arkham City shine less brightly than it once did.My favorite thing ...
