BF-Games has information regarding the single player portion of Bad Company 2, which is featured in the January 2010 issue of a German game magazine, GameStar.

    Heart of Darkness
According to the preview, the story begins in Alaska, where Haggard, Sweetwater, Sergeant Redford and you (the player) are on a patrol. During that patrol, the B Company discovers a secret research project of the Russian Army and the trouble begins. The intelligence report does not contain further details about the project but it's a new and powerful weapon and the B Company goes on a chase for it. GameStar chief editor
Michael Trier had the chance two play two missions of this chase: The already known scenario "Snow blind" (Alaska) from the first previews and trailers, and a second one called "Heart of Darkness" which leads the players to Bolivia!

    Rumble in the jungle
"Heart of Darkness" is the third scenario beside "Atacama Desert" and "Arika Harbour" that takes place at the South American continent, but this time, players can expect beautiful landscapes instead of bare deserts. The preview contains a couple of pictures from the new map including a panorama view. We are not allowed to show all pictures but scanned one of it to proof that there will be firefights in the jungle. The full story can be found at GameStar 01/2010 which is available starting November 25th, 2009. As far as we know, shipping to countries outside of the EU is not generally excluded and the (German) FAQ say that more details about the costs can be requested at the customer service (shop@gamestar.de).

Link to the story is found here.
Well this is sort of a surprise. However, this is just a preview of the singleplayer story. From what the above article states, what do you think of the singleplayer story so far? Anyways, it certainly seems more serious, I hope there is still comedic elements in it. (Haggard is there so there must be some funny parts)

No gold?  That'll make me sad.

Nonetheless, I love me some Bad Company, and it was about time that DICE finally offered a good campaign mode that wasn't just bot matches.  I'm looking forward to this one, especially after all the positive stuff coming out of the PS3 beta.

Interesting to note that Bad Company 2 will feature jungle, snowy and desert maps. I'd like to see the different battle dress camos. Variety is a good thing if done well.

Sounds interesting, I too also hope it retains its comedic elements. That's what made it unique, in my opinion.

The part "you (the player)" puzzles me - we played an actual character in Bad Company, wasn't it simpler to call him by name? A new squad member?

@Ghostiet: I assume that it's still Marlowe that you play as. The news released thus far indicate that it's still the same four-member squad from the first game.

I really felt nothing redeeming about the first ones SP and I doubt I will care the least bit of this one. After playing the beta though, I am definitely going to be digging the multiplayer. Such a huge improvement.

My thoughts exactly. Oh well, so long as it's funny like the first one I'm game.

I certainly hope the player (Marlowe) keeps quiet this time. He didn't talk much in the first one, but he seemed to flub the tone of every single one of his lines. I'm sure there'll still be humorous interplay between Sweetwater and Haggard. I also hope the actor who played Haggard has studied his Southern accent(s) a little more since last time.

As of now Jungle, Desert and Snow maps are confirmed, but the Russian winning VO (Defenders on Arica Harbour) is 'The road to Washington begins here'...

...this leads me to believe, that we will indeed get Urban maps too, which might very well be a capitol hill map. That would be mindblowingly awesome.

@Seppli: That would indeed be awesome. I liked the BF2 booster maps set on US soil a lot. It was nice having familiar looking settings.

Yes. In the little winning movie, where a Russian T-90 rolls over that military communication device...

'The road to Washington begins here!' - is what the VO says.
