@egg: it's because the crescent moon background mimics the crescent moon logo. They removed the symmetry and added nothing of importance.

Maybe he should just shut up and be happy someone is putting out his game? Saying "Oh no, they changed the colour of the 2 to red" sounds kinda childish considering that the alternative would've been no box art at all because no one wanted to touch it.

EDIT: I take issue with him saying that it's been changed to a full moon. It's the exact same picture with a bunch of yellow sparkly bits on the bottom. There's no way to know if it's a crescent or what.

it's an interesting example about graphic design, layout and Composition. It's not the worst in the world, and it's not horrible, it's serviceable..... in that way how Batman Arkham City Game of the Year box does what it needs to do even if that looks like a mess.

The original is much better. All those flame effects or whatever they are look pretty terrible. Also I hope that Bayonetta 1 thing is a sticker or they integrate it into the cover art in a more sleek way.

The original looks nice. The gold on the new one reminds me of how cheap the boxart for Skyward Sword looks. For some reason I thought it was printed out of someones cheap home printer the first time I bought it.

That's why you think it's ugly. The first edition run was holographic gold and it looked real nice. The one you have is from later shipments where they just printed the gold color, but it had no shine.
