    Bionic Commando Rearmed

Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Aug 13, 2008

Bionic Commando Rearmed is a remake of the classic NES game, Bionic Commando. Although it was designed mainly as a marketing tie-in to the 360 and PS3 game also called Bionic Commando, it was actually far, far better received by critics than the real console game.

I'm sure the PS3 version will be much more forgiving due to it having a decent D-pad.

I started off by using the LS and I think that works just fine.

Imo this game works great with LS. I never use 360's d-pad in anything (unless you must use it like in CoD4 :X).

360's D-pad is worse than the D-pad on my 15-year old SNES controller, which is practically yellow.

I don't get why that D-pad is still on the 360 controller. It should have died on the regular Xbox controller.
They don't mind ripping off the miis or the eye toy, so why the hell do they still use that thing ?

The game plays just fine with the stick, but it's hardly the best way to do it.

I don't understand how the d-pad is an issue, you never have to push diagonally up as that is the default firing position and the 360 d-pad has no problems differentiating between up, down, left, right.

Every direction on the 360 D-pad is sloppy, and it's easy to accidentally do a diagonal when you don't want to.  I found that the stick was quite a bit easier to play with than the D-pad, which is probably ok for this game.  That would never fly with a game like Street Fighter.

Well if you're running and press B, your arm will go straight forward. If you don't want to use the diagonal then you have to stop moving before pressing B right ? That's sounds annoying to me. Maybe I don't quite get the gameplay yet.

It's a shame but the 360 D-pad seems to be good for little more than inventory cycling and barking canned commands to AI team-mates.

There was a simple mod I remember seeing that you could make to the dpad to make it far less shitty. I'm gonna look that up now

I've been wanting to try that mod too, but it involves disassembling your controller and sanding down the edges of the well the d-pad sits in. Sounds a bit complicated and maybe easy to mess up.

Yeah it could get messy if you've never used sandpaper before. I'm gonna give it a shot, I've got a spare controller.

Yes that's an issue and also i have noticed that the D-pad does have a hard time when i press down. sometimes he crouches and slide the opposite direction i want him facing. when i try and correct the error more times then none he freaks out and faces the same way again! Yes maybe it is just me, maybe i need to just get use to using the D-pad again, but i think its fare saying that the D-pad on the 360 is far from perfect.

Dude I didn't know you could use the D-pad before this as the tutorials showed the analog stick being used so I used that.

Yeah, use the analog stick. The game's got analog movement in it and was pretty clearly designed to be played that way.

uhh... what's wrong with the thumbstick for 2d games?  I understand 2d fighters (not so much 3d unless you have to do a down, up, etc. combo) but a sidescroller actually plays better with a joystick overall

I actually do prefer the stick now. I played it for about an hour late last night with the dpad only, but the stick is just fine. Nothing like the challenge rooms to make you feel really shitty at a game.

Just tried the PS3 demo from the Japanese PSN, and there the d-pad is not a problem for me at least. What bothers be a bit though especially on the time based challenges is how you tell your arm to let go or hold on to surfaces, in case you need to change direction mid swing for example.

I have yet to encounter a single game in which the 360's Dpad worked better than the left stick.  It's pretty much just an additional 4 item selector on the controller.

Yeah, but in 2D side scrollers? Usually not. Its different in this case though.

I'm so used to holding the controller that way that I prefer using the left stick in all games.  I even use it when playing emulators on the computer.

If I absolutely need digital movement I just use the arcade stick.

Use the analog sticks. It works just perfect whit those. I beat the game and  40+ of the challenges on a average 4star rating. It's all about precision, timing, focus, patience and all other imaginable virtues, like all other games and every action you take in life!

btw. 41+ challenges suck, because moving platforms suck sooo hard. The only element I truely dislike about Bionic Commando : Rearmed.

The D-pad is the only bad part of the 360 controller, IMO.  Just use the analog stick as plenty of others have said.

The 360 might as well have a third analog over that D-pad. Surprised a new updated controller isn't out actually.

I hope for kind of double nun-chuck controller for the next generation of xbox and playstation. Like casual games and J-RPGs and the like only use one, others use two. That be freaking awesome!
