    I'm only on level 41.  Is this high enough to enter the new DLC and survive or do fine?  Or do I need to be level 50 to survive in there.

    I think you'll be fine if you stick with playthrough 1.  Playthrough 2 is a bitch.

    You should be fine on playthrough 1, but you'll get murdered on playthrough 2.
