Once more into the breach.... 0

Perhaps the last great World War II epic, Call of Duty 2, to many, was the end of an era.  Although subsequent efforts by other developers have been adequate, punctuated by Treyarch's latest Call of Duty: World at War, Infinity Ward's exit from the European theater still remains one of the finest efforts set in the heat of the second world war.  Perhaps it merely had the exquisite timing of being the game that squeaked passed the genre's expiration date, but any way you slice it, Call of Duty 2...

A excellent WW2 shooter. Probably the best one. 0

About 6 months ago, I had never played a WW2 shooter other then in passing. And then I played CoD4. Seeing that I absolutely loved the game and almost everything about it. I figured I’d give the older one ago. Then looking up information on the series, I found that a lot of the people on the Call of Duty team made some of the earlier Medal of Honor games.    So, based on that I started from the beginning, Medal of Honor, then skipping MoH: Underground, I played MoH: Allied assault. At some...

Call of Duty 2 0

Intro: Call of Duty 2 is, well, a World War Two shooter. If you couldn't figure that out from the start, then you're special in more ways then one. I digress. Anywho, this (like I mentioned before) is a WW2 shooter that lets you take on the perspective of three different soldiers in different scienarios. One of the soldiers is in the British Army, fighting in Africa, one is a Russian soldier fighting for his motherland, and respectivily, an American Solider fighting during D-day. All of these sc...

Three Years Later, This Game Is Still A Hit 0

The Call Of Duty video game series has always been my favorite. The intense first person action set during actual wars has always been enough to keep me going back for more. Call Of Duty 2 is no different. While it was released around three years ago and was technically the first great shooter for the Xbox 360, it doesn't mean gamers can't still enjoy it's satisfying action and smooth graphics. This is a good example of a tactical failure. The game, obviously, is set during World War II. You assum...

Intense and linear WWII shooter. 0

Call of Duty 2 was an Xbox360 launch game and back then it was amazing. Almost 4 years later it really starts to show some age, but it also shows just how much shooters have evolved in these few years. CoD2 is still very intense and very linear World War II shooter. WHAT A FAMILIAR STORY Story is not so interesting. You play as 3 different soldiers: a Russian in Stalingrad, a British in Africa and an American in Europe after the invasion of Normandy. Authentic news clips bring a certain a...

The first COD on next-gen 0

I've never been much for war games, they usually end up too complicated, or too realistic that its just not fun. This game, on the other hand, is Amazing. All of the sounds really make you feel like your in a war. The sounds ofa grenade exploding, or shots being fired, soldiers yelling out commands, or if they spot an enemy. It is really realistic, in a good way. It makes you feel like your there, which is what I was looking for. Graphics are great. The environments are very well done. The onl...

One of the finest military FPS games ever made. 0

1. STORY & GAME MODES Well as obvious as it may be, Call of Duty 2 is set during the second half of World War II and you play as 4 Allied Militants: Private Vasili Ivanovich (Soviet Union), Sergeant John Davis & Commander David Welsh (British) and Corporal Bill Taylor (American). The game firstly puts you in Stalingrad, 1942, right in the midst of the and ’s battle of . Following this you take control of the British forces in Eastern Europe during 1943 & 1944 and then finalize the ...

A good series entry 0

Call of Duty 2 published in 2005 and developed by Infinity Ward is a great entry in the Call of Duty Series. The game doesnt elevate itself to be the ascension of the FPS genre onto the next generation of consoles, but the game is rock solid. In Call of Duty 2 you will be playing as four different soldiers through three very unique campaigns. The Soviet missions take place in the snowy depths of Russia all the way through the epic march and recapturing of Stalingrad. The Soviet missions focus mos...

Brutally intense and constantly riveting WWII action 0

Call of Duty 2 is a game that came out with fairly high expectations after all the Game of the Year honors that the original Call of Duty garnered. While it does not blow any of those expectations away, it certainly meets them. This game is incredibly intense from start to finish (which takes somewhere between 12 to 15 hours on normal difficulty, by the way), and the action is pretty much non-stop. If there was ever a game whose simulation of the maelstrom of war made you want to huddle in a co...

Call of Duty 2 0

The best change to the formula from the first full sequel was switching to a heal-over-time approach instead of littering health packs everywhere. It's just as unrealistic (and even seems a bit more plausible if you don't think about it too much), and works better for the kind of gameplay they're going for, where you have to stay in cover, make your shots, and then move on. If you charge the enemy, you're probably going to die, although it's fun to try.The level design is also a little different...

Revolutionary 0

First ill deal with the, single player, it consists of around 10 missions, 3 Russian, 4 British and 3 American. Not to difficult and really exciting your never just wondering "what do i do now" you are always do something. The campaign seems some what un-interested through the Russian point of view but as you progress to the British and American you get a strong feeling that this is a large scale war. Now the part i love the most, the multilayer. It consists of 5 different types of games. The u...

Shazbot with 2 Stars 0

Call of duty 2 was one of the launch games for the 360 back in Nov 05’, It had [some crazy number] of first day sales and went on to claim the [insert prestigious award title with really long name] from [some person that gives out awards [no its not a marketing gimmick designed to get you to buy the sequel]].Anyhow, if you’re reading this rubbish, then you probably have all the statistics in hand and are wondering if it’s worth the 6 dollars shipping, since the game can probably be found for pen...

It's a been there, done that and want a little more oomph game. 0

How do you top one of the most succesful shooters of all time? By essenitally doing the exact same thing's for the sequel it would seem. I know many of you will be tired of World War 2 shooters by now, the same stuff recycled over and over again with a unique gimmick thrown in for good measure. Apparently nobody let the developers of Call of Duty 2 know about this so they went and made the game anyway. All i can say is thank God they did, this game is bigger, better and a hell of a lot more epic...

WOW 0

NOTE: I normally do longer reviews but this game does not have a lot of content, but that does not stop it from being awesome. The good: awesome graphics that still stand today - very good sound - awesome firefights - good gameplay good multiplayer. The bad: Multiplayer matches can only have up to 8 people at one time - campaign rather short and easy - AI is rather well... not smart.Your first though will indeed be WOW by the masive firefights graphics, and sound. You play as one of three soldiers ...

Call Of Duty 2 0

Call of Duty 2 for the 360 has many different aspects which makes it very hard to review. Firstly, this is quite an old game and because of that, the unlockable achievements are very simple, yet hard to unlock. If you are thinking of buying this game and you DO mind about the gamer points then get ready for some seriously long gameplay and feeling so frustrated that you want to smash in your 360 with your controller. This is because nearly all of the points are unlocked via Veteran difficulty (e...

Captures the frantic action of World War II better than most 0

No game since the original Call of Duty has been able to capture the essence of the genre quite like it. The second game in the series, and Call of Duty's debut on consoles, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor by providing a campaign brimming with intense gun combat and a fully featured fast-paced online multi-player mode. Although Call of Duty 2 may not have much of a narrative, its exciting action and addictive multi-player will keep you interested one way or the other. You'll start the...

Call Of Duty 2 Review 0

I love Call of Duty 2! The game is breathtaking from the time you pick up the controller to the time you put it down. If you want an in depth shooting experience this games for you. Intense firefights, Amazing graphics, and out of this world game play. Your partners in this game have phenomenal A.I and they can take care of them selves. They duck behind cover; they help you and reload when they have to. Call of Duty 2 starts were Call of Duty leaves off. You have three campaigns you can go thro...

The best Xbox 360 launch title, bar none! 0

Let's accept the fact that WWII shooters are dead. But 2.5 years ago, there was a WWII game that was worth playing, and is still worth playing today. And that game is Call of Duty 2. The single-player campaign lets you see the war from three different perspectives- An American, British, and Russian soldier. While the campaigns all play out the same, the Russian campaign looks the nicest graphically with a great snow effects. The British campaign is the longest and features intense desert combat ...

A great, all around experience! 0

This was my first Call of Duty game and it started my love for the series. I went through the campaign at least 5 times before deciding to check out the online. You felt like you were part of the war and combat was intense. That and Macgregor is my favorite game character of all time. The multiplayer was spectacular, the people were great and the mods were awesome (Zombies especially.) Now take note that this was about 3 years after its release. A couple months before Modern warfare came out. The...

Clearly the best in the series 0

It's rare for me to say a sequel surpasses the original with no question. The team at Infantry Ward have done a fantastic job on Call of Duty 2. There are many improvements scattered about. Once again, there are three campaigns of Russian, British, and American. They're just in reverse order this time. First off, the graphics. The graphics have been greatly improved by the already good looking original. There seems to be more explosions everywhere lol. Of course, it is still a little dated, but ...
