The fourth main Call of Duty game ditches the World War II setting of the past games to tell a story set in contemporary times, and backs it up with a breakthrough multiplayer mode.
Singleplayer Call of Duty 4's campaign is extremely short. I'll get that out of the way. In fact, I would have half a mind to not recommend this because of it's length, if not for the ridiculously streamlined gameplay, and amazing production values. You'll be gripping your controller from start to finish.
It is very well balanced and the pacing is phenomenal, on par of a high-quality summer blockbuster. You'll never be in one place too long, and the game never outlives it's welcome. It is over in a flash, but that's the perfect time to switch to good old multiplayer.
Multiplayer COD4's multiplayer is fast paced, extremely intense, and a lot of fun. The community is much better than say, Halo 3, albeit you won't be ushering team commands to complete strangers, you still can cooperate.
Keep in mind, if you don't have gold, than COD4 may not be the game for you. There's not too much I can say that hasn't been covered 15 million times in other reviews.
Consensus + High production values + Sweet multiplayer + Just plain fun - Short campaign - No co-op to be found

Call of Duty 4 is my first true step into the series and on the subject matter I'd say it's akin to stepping out onto the middle of a battlefield without going through boot camp first. So yes, I died a lot, it's pretty realistic and hard, but most importantly it's intense and immersive. The single player story is short, I'll ge...

In their free time, they enjoy multiple energy drinks, weed to ease the energy drink buzz, and UFC because there are fewer highs more sweet than a good ground and pound. And their hero? The soldier. The partially unk...
