Extraterrestrials appear in many video games in a variety of styles. Sometimes they're evil, sometimes they're benevolent, and sometimes they're very similar to humans.
A foreign language natively spoken by extraterrestrial biengs from another planet or galaxy
A clone is a being created as a perfect genetic duplicate of another being, right down to the DNA.
A fictional language and/or script created exclusively for the world in which a game is set, such as Tolkien's Elvish or the language of the Talan in Outcast.
FMVs are pre-rendered videos used in place of real-time graphics. Using FMV was an attempt to make videogames look "more like movies", sometimes with CGI animation and others with live-action actors speaking directly to players. The downside is that FMV requires a lot of disk space, and live-action FMV in particular can look terrible by comparison.
Games often feature in-game music, however some have taken the effort to create their own radio stations, with DJ's, talkback, and a variety of music.
Games that incorporate licensed music from popular bands and musicians for their soundtracks.
Non-linear level design where the player is able to freely traverse the game world and choose where and when to visit certain areas in the game.
PhysX is a realtime physics engine middleware originally developed by Ageia and now maintained by nVidia. It is the only currently available physics engine that supports hardware acceleration.
Puppets are a type of doll that people use to play with and pretend that they are real. In some video games a puppet may become real and even join the hero on his or her quest. Or they could be used in battle as a weapon or attack.
Games that overlay realtime characters or objects over FMV (full motion video) cutscenes to lessen the contrast against the realtime portion of the game.
The process of tracing over live-action motion video to create animation.
A sequel (also called a follow-up) is a game that carries forward the gameplay concepts, and often the story, of a previous game to which it is officially linked.
Whales in outer space were first popularized as a concept by the film Star Trek IV. This concept covers all types of cetaceans, including dolphins and narwhals.
Game visuals based on mathematical calculations. As opposed to texture or sprite based raster graphics.
Games that have you going into a computer generated virtual universe.
As storage capacity has increased, games have been able to incorporate more forms of media. Some games allow you to watch television or film programs, be they original content or previously published material.
