David Hayter is a well accomplished actor, screen writer, and voice actor best known for his role as Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid games.

Film

David Bryan Hayter was born in California on February 6, 1969, though his parents were Canadian. Hayter, now a screen writer, first started his career as an actor in the early 1990's. He became interested in voice acting after making an appearance on an episode of the sitcom Major Dad. He then voiced Captain America in the 1994 Spider Man animated series. As a screenwriter, David Hayter has been credited for the screen play for the 2000 movie version of X-Men and co-wrote its sequel X2: X-Men United, with Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris. He also co-wrote the screen play for The Mummy spin off, The Scorpion King, in 2002. David Hayter has also written the movie adaption for a limited 12 issue comic book series from the late 1980's by Alan Moore, called Watchmen. David Hayter is currently in talks with Warner Bros. studios to write and make his directorial debut for the film adaption of the Capcom video game Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.


Video Games

David Hayter's big break came in 1998 with the release of the highly successful Playstation video game, Metal Gear Solid, voicing the main protagonist of the game, Solid Snake. Hayter has since reprised his role as a Solid Snake in the remake of Metal Gear Solid titled Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes and subsequent Metal Gear sequels, Metal Gear Solid 2: Son's Of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. He has also voiced a closely related character to Solid Snake named Naked Snake in the prequels Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

David Hayter has also lent his voice to other video games, voicing several characters in the 2002 Silicon Knights video game Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and again as Solid Snake in the popular Wii title Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
