Long ago, the Three Red Lights podcast (IGN's Xbox podcast) made fun of the Rainy Woods trailers and name. The game went silent, and I thought it was the end of that. Now, it's out under the name Deadly Premonition.
 
This was a very round-about way of saying I think the name "Rainy Woods" is infinitely better than "Deadly Premonition". First of all, it says what it means - the woods are rainy. Second of all, it simply sounds cooler to say. Try it - say "Rainy Woods" and "Deadly Premonition" without context. "Rainy Woods" rolls off the tongue much better, while "Deadly Premonition" sounds like a Steven Seagal movie.

I definitely think "Rainy Woods" is more direct.
I haven't even seen any premonitions in this game, not to mention, any of them deadly!

I  think "deadly premonition" is a better name in general than "rainy woods", but I think the oddity of naming a game "rainy woods" would fit the tone of the game more.

Deadly Premonition fits the cheesy horror style of the game more but "Rainy Woods" fits in more. I think Deadly Premonition is a better name for the game out of the two.

Rainy woods is a crappy name, is "rainy" even a real word?  That said there are plenty of premonitions in the game.  Guy is constantly getting "premonitions" from his coffee.  Hell at one point he decides to go fishing for evidence because of an advertisement on his coffee mug, no I am not joking.

My point exactly. Besides, Rainy Woods almost sounds like a happy name - there's a certain bounce to how it's said. "

The game looked a little better when it was under the title rainy woods, so probably that.

Rainy Woods is fucking silly. Who'd buy that?
If anything's generic and soulless with this game it's the boxart:

"Rainy Woods" sounds silly...therefore it fits the game better than "Deadly Premoniton."
 
The game is called "Red Seeds Profile" in Japan, which fits the story of the game. I guess "Deadly Premonition" also describes the story, but it a less obvious way.

Rainy woods? Really? 
 
Yea they made the right choice with deadly premonition...

the best part about the old name was that in the logo they used the "upside-down peace sign" thing as the "Y" in RAINY...

I'm guessing it was so as not to clash with Heavy Rain.

Rainy Woods follows the Twin Peaks naming convention too closely I think. I don't actually like either of the names that much. The JPN title "Red Seeds Profile" is a bit of a mouthful, but perhaps a little more unique.

I like Deadly Premonition BECAUSE it has that Steven Seagal sounding name; it's cheesy. Which is exactly what this game is. I might just be turning crazy, but it's almost if EVERY single aspect of this game, even if its just plain awful is totally intentional.

Deadly Premonition is cheesy as fuck, which fits.

Rainy Woods sounds like a bad translation from Japanese.

Rainy Woods is definitely the better title.
