A celebrated cyberpunk-themed first-person role-playing game, Deus Ex puts players behind the shades of JC Denton--an operative thrust into a world of byzantine global conspiracies.
How does this hold up?
I played through it again about a year ago, and was still impressed by the level of freedom the game grants its players.
If you can get past the dated graphics, it is definitely worth the $10.
It's definitely up there as one of the best RPG's ever made.
But your computer might play it too fast.
I know...that doesn't seem like a major issue to have, but it totally is.
It's neat, but it definitely shows its age, and there are issues with the open world structure. I remember I stopped playing because I accidentally went a little too far ahead (as I am prone to doing since I love exploration) and that kind of prevented me from completing my objective since I did something out of order. Had to replay all that and it was annoying. A game like this is also very tough to balance, and frankly I just didn't feel like putting up with some of those issue later on and I just stopped playing.
The game has a few flaws, and had some even when it was released. The AI isn't that good, graphics aren't all that great and some other, often minor things. But this is one of those games that manage to let you follow an complex and detailed plot with many twists and turns, and still allow you to play the game any way your want, and have that reflect in some things that happen later on. The gameplay is still great and entertaining, and the fact that all voices are recorded and compressed on one CD was really impressive back in the day.
Its a classic, that maybe didnt age as well as some games and even had flaws back when it was released, but I'd say that the story and fun gameplay makes it worth giving a try if you think it sounds interesting at all.

What objective was that? DX is prety much impossible to screw up. It allows you to skip secondary objectives, and not screw anything up.
Graphically, it holds up terribly, but as far as game design goes, I really enjoy it.
I had to virtually "downgrade" my computer just to get it to play, though. I had to make it use only one of my processor cores or it ran wayyy too fast.
I bought the pack of this & Deus Ex 2 off Steam, and Deus Ex 2 actually doesn't really work at all. Fucking brand new computer an a game that old runs at 10 frames per second at 640 x 480. Bullshit.
i am in the prose of beating it on the ps2 the conspirce. its the same game for pc verson just counsel verson and its so awsome i say its fun and its about as good as like a mass effect. cant stop playing it i never played it when it came out but dam its fun. the only thing that is annoy is the load times but thats tipical of older games so watever.
