Whatever reservations you have about Nero, forget about them. He's not as cool as Dante by any means, but he's no slouch when it comes to mouthing off to the highest of demons. His Devil Bringer (his glowing arm) allows for a lot more gameplay variety. Instead of running at an enemy and risk ending a combo, you can just pull the enemy back and decimate him some more. In short, he's great fun to play as and easy for newcomers to learn the game mechanics with.
But that doesn't mean Dante is out of the picture. You gain control of Dante about halfway through the game, and he's got some new moves, too. Instead of keeping a single style like the previous game, you can switch styles on the fly. This makes things a bit easier for newcomers to learn each style. Unfortunately, this means the styles are slightly more simplified as well. In addition, Dante is given any new levels to play through; his missions are basically all a rehash of Nero's. Those are the only knocks I have against it, though. In short, this game is fantastic.
