I saw it on Steam for $40. I'm a sucker for fantasy RPGs, so has anyone played this yet or know what it's like?
Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga
Game » consists of 3 releases. Released Apr 12, 2011
The true sequel to 2001's Divine Divinity, Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga is a remastered package containing an updated version of Divinity II: Ego Draconis and its expansion pack, Flames of Vengeance.
Is this game any good?
There's no quicklook for this game. There is, however, a Dave quicklook for the predecessor to this game, Divinity 2: Ego Draconis, which I would guess is what trophyhunter was thinking of.
I'd like to see a quicklook for this game, but I don't think it'll happen. This game is too low-profile during this busy time of year to get that much attention. I'm also considering buying it, but want to know more about it and see more of it first.
The base game always seemed to be something that crazy people would like. I wouldn't go as far as to say "Gothic Fans", but for some reason the venn diagram in my head matches them both up pretty closely.
Just finished the 360 version. I thought the game was pretty good to be honest. I thought the expansion was a bit of let down though, but it's got loads and loads of loot and a decent English VO. The framerate is much better than it was in Ego Draconis (on the 360 at least) and its technically better overall (save a few exceptions). However, I would'nt say it was 'brilliant' by any means.
At $40 i'd say its just about worth the price.
NO
Divinity 2: Ego Draconis was a pile of trash, I played it from start to finish. Becoming a dragon sounds really awesome, but it's implementation was atrocious and underwhelming. Being a dragon in this game sucks big hairy ass, period. It is boring and repetitive, not to mention that you can't actually do anything as a dragon to normal foes on the ground.
Ability and gear progression is unbalanced to all fuck, at the start the games feels too hard, but once you get certain abilities it becomes a boring cakewalk.
I killed the endgame boss with his cohorts without even realizing that it was the final fight.
This is just an expansion so I don't expect them to completely redesign the game, which is what would be needed to make it any good.
One of my buddies delights in sending me odd RPGs whenever possible as Xmas presents.
This year, he hooked me up with The Dragon Knight saga. Compared to the Ego Draconis quick look, it feels like there was some significant effort put into the Ego Draconis campaign to update it and patch it up.
Admittedly, I'm only about an hour or two in, though, so maybe it gets mad broken by the end, but so far, it's not the atrocious exercise in patience I initially thought it would be.
get it. played ego draconis not long ago and i'll tell you one thing: the quicklook is bullshit. i don't know why the hell dave didn't play the pc version, which was way better then the 360 one
i kinda liked it. it's more of an action game than most rpg-s, but interestingly, it kinda made it better
also be sure to get the dragon knight saga, because ego draconis is more like half a game. super short and ending exactly when you think stuff would pick up. the first ever game where I was actually dead convinced it will go on after the credits role :s

Its 20$ on steam this weekend, yay or nay?
I'm wondering the same thing. I hear this version is pretty decent.
The Dragon Knight Saga is a remake/rerelease of the original game (around 40 hours long) and the expansion pack. If you're into the idea of a more open and complex Fable, then I'd recommend picking it up while it's on sale. It has a fair bit of European jank, as well as a fair bit of open world jank. But if you can stomach that, I'd say: buy away.
I had a great time with it.
It's a pretty decent game. Nothing groundbreaking, but if you're into western RPG's it's very enjoyable.
A lot of references to British comedies too.
bought it yesterday and played a few hours, it's decent. It doesn't look as bad as it does in the quicklook since that was an older iteration of the game. This version has a newer engine and animations aren't stiff looking so it runs and looks better. As far as the game itself, it's a fairly standard western RPG with a more action oriented combat system.
