The Tie

The tie? Where did it come from?

#2 Posted by Nefilim (26 posts) -

It first appeared in Donkey Kong Country. I guess it's just to make him different from the old Donkey Kong. The Kong in the old Donkey Kong game is actually Cranky Kong in the newer games. You'll notice this if you read what Cranky says in the Country series.

If you're only gonna wear one piece of clothing, you've gotta make it count.

If he didn't have the tie there would be nothing to make him different from regular gorillas.

one of the Snake codec things in brawl says that the donkey kong from the original is the other ones grandfather

Didn't the old Donkey Kong (Cranky Kong) wear a bow tie?

A more alarming trend revolves around the lack of pants among most of the kongs in the Donkey Kong series...

I think it gives the monkey some kind of human-like personality.

Was Rare's idea. Plus DK got serious style. I never liked that Cranky was supposed to be the first DK, how old does that make mario? and is the DK we all know, DK Jr.?

Yeah, but when you try and take apart Nintendo's early fiction you will waste your time, because it's all over the place and not meant to be studied that much.

But I do think DK would look pretty awesome with his tie and a red pair of underwear, monkies wearing diapers is always amusing.

YO BABY
