@klyith: In theory. But considering how little stuff has be be off before people get dizzy, pukey and headachey a little difference in the way tracking is done, or FOV, or how long it takes to draw the image on the panel can have big repercussions.

E3 2015: Starbreeze announces StarVR
@amafi: well, I know they're not identical problems. I still think the method for getting a game to work on one VR headset or another will look closer to a graphics option menu (similar to a resolution drop-down list) than to having to buy an entirely different version of the game, which is what a format war would imply.
I agree, I can't afford a computer that can run that resolution at 90 fps. It's also super weird this is getting to music game instrument level of market confusion already. They all better be pretty compatible with each other.
But I'd like to point out the VR episodes of X-files were written by William Gibson and in my opinion, pretty good for the time.
I think the main issue could be the compatibility of games with the different VR sets (which could lead to the fragmentation of userbase into separate platforms). Though a big issue will also be the availability of games designed for VR. The lack of games associated with the potentially high prices for the VR sets could also lead to problems in getting a large enough userbase in order for making the VR a viable platform to develop games for.
Just wondering generally if the time is yet right for VR. Maybe it needs a few more years for the computers to get faster in general in order to have pc´s and consoles which will truly be able to handle VR without reduced graphics and for enabling people to buy a VR set for a much lower price.
VR goggles will never become a mainstream deal. Mostly due to price restrictions and utility. If you're strapped for cash which would you pick? A monitor viewable by just you and with limited title selection?
We have too many companies breaking into the market at the top of the cost ladder. Until we see a real cost effective device software creators would be fools to support it as anything other than a curiosity.
I'm far more interested in seeing what kind of price point Rift can offer.
All articles even remotely relating to VR have become bulletins for people to comment their views on VR in general, rather than the focus of the article... christ.
