I made it to the top of the hotel.  But  after taking a few steps a prompt came up saying that Reillys rangers view me as hostile.
I didn't  even do anything though.
I didn't fire my weapon at all.
I do have bad karma, level 8, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
It said mission failed also.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Is Fawkes in your party?  If so, that's why they're hostile towards you.  Have Fawkes wait in the building and go talk to the Rangers.  Alternatively, holster your gun before entering the roof.

No, fawkes wasn't with me, but i did have my gun out.  I wonder if that is what did it?  strange.  I did save it, so I will try again.

That never happened to me and when I did it, I was playing it as evil as possible. Maybe it's just a glitch.

Holstering might help. I had it happen to me when I went one direction to their position, but not another. I was trying to help them by taking out some super mutants, but got the same message. Replaying and going a different way made it work.

yup sorry, I did it as a level 20 WITH Fawkes... no problems.  Hopefully you have an old enough save were you can start outside and work your way back in.  Sucks bro.

I had this problem too, I just reloaded my game and it worked properly the second time.

It worked.   I had an older save, holstered my weapon, and it worked perfectly.   Thanks!!  GB is the best!!!
