Fat Princess
When I first looked at this game I thought it was a Wii game, I'm serious, the bright colorful levels and cute characters screamed Nintendo. Though when I did look it up I found it was on the PS3, from that moment on I was determined to play this game. When I did get the chance it was when the servers were not great, but they were OK. In the early days of playing it you couldn't get into a game until around the third try. A couple of weeks after it's release Titan put out a patch to fix that problem and I could tell a big difference. Lag was way down and games went more smoothly. I played most of the game with the servers being crap but just recently got into playing with the new patch installed.
Fat Princess is what I would like to call a collection of mini games. You get a good amount of other things to play, you have:
- Rescue the Princess- It's a unique version of capture the flag. Both teams try to capture the others princess. This requires a good amount of strategy, people have to work together to get the princess. These can take a long time. I had some go a hour with no one getting to the princess.
- Snatch 'n Grab- This one I didn't like, it's like Rescue the Princess but you have to do that three times. What I didn't like is that those can take forever. And I just don't have the time to do it that long.
- Team Deathmatch- This is what it says. Each team gets a set number of lives and then they can go at it. The team that his 0 first looses. These can go really fast.
- Invasion- In this mode teams try to capture the most outposts. I didn't get a lot of time with this one.
- Gladiate- You play as an of the classes and you try to murder as many enemies before you die.
- Legend Of The Fat Princess- This is the story mode of Fat Princess. It's basically a tutorial on how to play the game. The "story" is non existent.
The teams I mentioned is pretty basic. The game splits up into two teams with 16 on each side, and bots filling in places where people aren't. One team is blue and the other is red. That's basically the only thing with the teams, there isn't any special features for either team, though that would be a cool feature.
Though probably the biggest thing about Fat Princess is the classes. The game has five different classes all with different strengths and weaknesses. For example, the warrior is strong but slow, the worker can gain materials but is weak, ranger can do damage but it has odd recharge times. I personally like playing the worker, I enjoy just getting material to upgrade the classes to help out the people who fight. I've gotten over a 1000 points just cutting trees and getting ore.
Pretty much every element of this game is solid and I have major respect for Titan Studios for that. You don't see many people nail their first game they ever made. If you like insane amounts of violence, good stargegy, team work, and fucking cute visuals then Fat Princess is 100% for you, if you don't like violence you can turn that off of course. Game of the Year, I think so.
