The Finest FIFA Game To Date
Alot of FIFA games in the past have been identical to their predecessors with the exception of updated squads and slightly better graphics. FIFA 10 however has quite a different feel to it when compared to previous games. This is mainly due to the introduction 360 degree dribbling enabling the player to have a much better sense of control over the ball.
While this is the main new feature of FIFA 10 that enhance the gameplay, smaller additions such as more realistic ball phisics, less cutscenes in the middle of a meatch and the ability to take free kicks quickly also add to the experience, making this the finest FIFA game to date.
The main mode you will most likely be playing is Manager Mode. This is pretty much the same as in previous games, apart from the fact that transfers are harder to make which can be quite frustrating at times. Also there are no days between matches where you can negotiate with the player, you can only do so before/after every match. My only other issue with Manager Mode is that unless you pump alot of money into your fitness staff your players are going to be exhausted after every other game.
Just as in FIFA 09 there is a Be A Pro mode. In this mode you control one player (either a real one or one you create yourself) and play your way throug his career. Like las year this is alot of fun but can be frustrating when your team mates are playing poorly.
Online you can play Head to Head against another player or (like in Be a Pro) you can take control of one player with other online players making up the team. While the online modes are fun for the most part. Eventually I found them to feel abit flat and sterile.
The AI is good most of the time, however moments such as when an opposition player passes the ball right to you from a free kick (even on the hardest difficulty) can detract from the experience. Fortunately these moments do not occur often enough to be too much of a problem. The commentary is OK with only occasional moments when what the commentator is saying does not reflect what is actually happening on the pitch.
Overall FIFA 10 is a fun well made sports game with only a few very tiny problems. Fans of the FIFA franchise should not miss the best FIFA to date
