    Overview

Filmmaking is a process which results in the creation of motion pictures and television shows. It has appeared in a number of games, sometimes as an integral part of the storyline but there are several games which allow players to create their own movies.

    History

The concept of creating films possibly originated in the 1890s with the Lumiere Brothers. By the 1920s, silent films progressed into the talkies (a period in which film began to incorporate sounds such as dialogue and music) and use of technicolor was popularized in the late 1930s onwards.

In the modern age, films now use a technique called CGI to enhance the visual appeal. However this has lead to much criticism over when CGI should be used, and how it can be used to replicate seemingly impossible or dangerous practical stunts.
