Huh, two threads on this popped at the exact same time. I'll post the same thing here.
It doesn't mean anything. They just don't want someone else taking it. Remember the gigantic slew of domain names Activision registered every single permutation of the COD franchise imaginable?
"Corporation Service Company" is a moniker SE uses to register domains. Here's the page for Heroes of Ruin and Deus Ex.
LOL
Why LOL? It's just something they do so no one else takes the domain. It's not a confirmation of anything (although, if XIII-2 is any good, it won't suprise me that if they do a threequel in a few years.)
@Cloudenvy: It confirms that it's a card on the proverbial table.
No, it doesn't prove anything beyond the fact that Square Enix now owns that particular domain name, preventing cyber-squatters or pranksters from using it for their own gain. This is a common business practice. Whether a Final Fantasy XIII-3 actually comes to pass or not is beside the point.

Sure, but at the same time, they didn't register domains for TheLastRemnant2.com or InfiniteUndiscovery2.com. This registration is telling me that they are covering their bases just in case they go forward with the thing, which is more than what could ever be said of sequels to The Last Remnant and InfiniteUndiscovery.

I want you to think about this for a second. Final Fantasy is an established property. They're working on a sequel that wasn't even their original intention to fix issues with a game that actually sold quite well. And there's no counting out the possibility of a Final Fantasy XIII-3 at this point, but FFXIII-2 hasn't even been released yet. Also, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is months away from release.
The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery were both new IPs. Their performance was an experiment, and well... Hell, The Last Remnant got hit with mediocre reviews and a cancelled PS3 version. There are no sequels for either game in development. None in sight whatsoever. Also, neither IP is nearly as important as Final Fantasy to Square Enix. To suggest differently would be like trying to put Marvel's Dazzler on the same level as Wolverine.
That they purchased a domain name for a sequel that hasn't been announced is a non-event.
