What is the origin of their love for J Allard?

They seem to be in love with a Mr. James Allard.  Can someone explain why this is?

I'm not sure really. I'm not really even sure they know at this point. I think it's just been a joke that's been around so long that it's just automatically funny for no real reason.

I suspect it's one of those so bad it's good type of deals.
