Because they were surprisingly good last year.

#5 Posted by Flacracker (630 posts) - 2 months, 19 days ago

This is surprisingly well produced.

Haha, 4chan...

I'm so glad they called out Anita Scamesian.

You know, I was expecting something pretty terrible but I ended up liking the list. A couple of weird choices really stand out but I guess that's 4chan for you. Nice to see Dustforce get some mentions though.

I like how they call their best trailer award the "Hyperbole Award" and proceed to get mad hyperbolic about the quality of games like Mass Effect, Diablo 3 and CoD. Also those skits were turrible.

#17 Posted by Hawkerace (179 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

It's just a few dudes, not there entire consensus opinion. I wouldn't take it too seriously.

#18 Posted by LackingSaint (809 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

Gotta say, overall I think I preferred last year. I appreciate how honest they were about the failings of the last /v/GAs, but again it seems like a matter of "if your show is obviously really flawed, you shouldn't bitch about how flawed all the other shows are".

#19 Edited by TheHT (8113 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

These are alright. Genuinely funny moments.

#20 Posted by EuanDewar (4022 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

nah fuck that

#21 Posted by chrissedoff (1694 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

Blech, 4chan.

#22 Edited by Nux (1992 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

So?

#23 Posted by jerseyscum (605 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

I'll check them out. Then disinfect myself after.

#24 Edited by Mrsignerman44 (935 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

That was surprisingly well produced. Definitely cringe-worthy at times (They still haven't gotten over Mass Effect 3 or DmC it seems...) but genuinely funny as well.

A modest effort from /v/ despite the fact that they won't acknowledge that 2012 was a fantastic year for vidya in general.

#25 Posted by MeganeAgain (91 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

To the Twitch archives I go! I very much enjoyed last year's show.

They don't host child porn. In fact 4Chan has been responsible for catching many pedophiles red handed looking for said material and turning their information over to authorities.

#28 Edited by jerseyscum (605 posts) - 2 months, 18 days ago

They clearly put some work into this. I gotta give credit where credit's due.

I'm also happy /v/ liked Hotline Miami as much as I did. And I'm always down for some Tropes VS Women bashing.

Where did you get the idea that 4chan hosts child porn? It's against the rules there like it is everywhere else - it's just that it appears over there occasionally because of the fact that there are 10s of millions of people posting on the site every month.

#30 Posted by Colourful_Hippie (2618 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Why even bother, he doesn't even understand what "host" mean in relation to the internet.

Someone could just as easily upload an illegal picture to any website, including Giantbomb. It's harder to catch on 4chan because of the sheer volume of people.

I understand some people don't like 4chan, and I don't think it's the best place in the world. But Jeff once said he saw value in it because when you just want the raw fucking essence of the internet regarding any big news matter or video game issue, it's there. And sometimes, that's what I want to see.

@jace: Yeah, I dunno people have really dumb impressions of shit like reddit and 4chan. I don't use em' well... okay /r/gonewild is an okay subreddit but like c'mon who doesn't visit that one.... but its cool that shit like that exists.

This should be fun

#38 Posted by ThunderSlash (576 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

I enjoyed whatever they had put up last year. Question though: They poll the users of their message board right? It's not just a small group of people that decide the awards.

#39 Edited by audioBusting (493 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

@thunderslash: If you check out their detailed results page, you'll see that they've actually put a surprising amount of effort into their polling. =O

edit: Also the strangest part of the results is Reddit also voting for Reddit Influence for the worst part of the 2011 /v/GAs. I don't know what actually happened last year but that's kinda funny.

Put Pikachu on head!

#41 Posted by Ravenlight (7055 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

Surprising production values, dumb fun, calling out bullshit: even if I wasn't 100% onboard with every one of their picks, I enjoyed watching.

That's unfortunate.

Yep.

What's wrong with 4chan? GB and 4chan occupy a good portion of my internet time.

They think that 4chan = /b/

/b/ leaks into the other boards enough that I stay away from the whole thing.

/b/ and /v/ leak in the internet as a whole. There is no escape. There's quite a few /v/diots that post on Giant Bomb. They usually smell funny and typically have drool marks on their keyboards.

Is there some kind of stereotypical /v/ user that I don't know about? I mean I frequent the board all the time and I don't smell funny or drool at all.

Not on youtube yet...that's ok. I'll wait.

#46 Posted by KaosAngel (13766 posts) - 2 months, 17 days ago

And we should care because?

Considering that /v/ is most of the time the first to post leaks, have been right about a lot of stuff, predicted the DMC fiasco, TORantic, and other big stuff that other sites said wouldn't happen...yeah, /v/ is still important. Only gets bigger by the day. New threads every second or so now.

At this point, this isn't 4chan. It's the REDDIT awards. 4chan is no longer what it used to be. It's filled with ''le epic maymays'' and other trash.
