And that's all folks!

I hope this list will be helpful in finding the runs you might have missed. There are so many great runs. And if you want to support their cause, you can follow the Speed Demos Archive at their websites http://gamesdonequick.com/ and donate anytime to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

The marathon total was: $1,025,497.34

Particular thanks goes out to Reddit users blazingkin and suudo. Their meticulous work in organizing all of this information was of great assistance to many people enjoying the runs during the marathon.

See you all for Summer Games Done Quick coming later this year and AGDQ 2015!

[Shout outs to everyone who visited http://www.explosiveruns.com and made it the best place for Giant Bomb members to chat about AGDQ.]

LOVE RYAN DAVIS

I also wanted to share a special thanks to all of you who donated at AGDQ 2014, and especially those who contributed toward donation incentives remembering Ryan.

Over $23,000 was raised to support cancer prevention in Ryan's honor.

You all are so generous, and I am very grateful for and proud of this community. "RyanD" successfully became the name of Robo in the Chrono Trigger Run with $9000 in donations, and everyone let out a cheer when it happened.

Video of the moment after a very tense bidding war:

Also of note was $1000 raised in support of naming Crono "Brono", and a whopping $13000 raised to successfully turn the flying time machine epoch into "2poch", in honor of Ryan and Patrick's Endurance Run of Chrono Trigger.

So many of these donations included heartfelt thanks to Ryan in their comments, and truly, this is a fantastic tribute to his life. Your love through this outlet of generosity will help more people avoid getting cancer.

Thank you so much.

@donchipotle: The million dollar total was actually reached during the final boss of the final game of the marathon, Chrono Trigger.

As the runner fought Lavos, donations were flooding in. Over $50,000 in less than a hour came in, and as he was striking the final blows on Lavos's final form, they hit $1,000,000.

He defeated Lavos and everyone looked over toward the announcer. He then shouted that they had indeed reached $1,000,000 and the room erupted into celebration!

Everyone watching AGDQ also exploded with excitement!

Sounds good, Marino. This ever-evolving table of information was helpful for me throughout the week, and I'm glad if more people here can get to easily find and watch the runs they want to see. :)

In the coming weeks, most of these runs will probably be put on Youtube, but for now, this seems like it should be helpful in navigating the Twitch archives of the marathon.

#8 Posted by Make_Me_Mad (3114 posts) -

For anyone who missed it, I recommend checking out Shinobi Legions from the Awful Games Done Quickly block. FMV ninjas and a dinosaur boss that literally has to be seen to be believed.

That and the Hitman run were the stars of the event for me.

@truthtellah: Thanks for the list of notable runs, I saw a few of those but missed most of them. Good to have points to start the archive diving with.

Damn glad I stayed up to watch the last like, 12 hours. Wondershot was a great way to end that fight, and RyanD was laser flaring dudes until the end.

One god damn million dollars.

I just watched the Super Metroid race. It was insanely good. If you don't want to watch too much, at least watch that, it's probably one of the best runs I've ever seen at GDQ. Now I need to go finish watching Chrono Trigger to see that clutch 1 mil.

#15 Posted by e30bmw (356 posts) -

I watched the Goldeneye one yesterday on youtube. Kind of crazy.

#17 Posted by Sarumarine (2303 posts) -

Oh man, thanks so much for this. I had to work most of the week so I missed a lot of good stuff. There are a lot of great runs in there. I think my favorites at the time are the back-to-back Blindfolded Punch-Out runs. Those were amazing and super tense.

#18 Posted by pyromagnestir (4339 posts) -

Yes, yes it is.

Yeah, right now, I guess they're being slammed with people wanting to watch the videos. I've found that going down to medium quality helps them work well enough. Just gotta stick with it. But, for the moment, it's all we've got. :)

#26 Posted by Demoskinos (15135 posts) -

@truthtellah: Yep. I'm sure they'll upload more on to YouTube in the coming weeks.

#27 Posted by AMyggen (3630 posts) -

@demoskinos: have you tried medium quality? I usually struggle with Twitch, but the AGDQ VoDs Works great.

#28 Posted by TyCobb (1973 posts) -

Such a great event and amazed at how much bigger it gets every year. Never would have thought they would hit $1,000,000. I figured in a couple of years as it continued to grow steadily, not exponentially. Happy I was wrong! =)

The one handed Mario 64 run was friggin awesome.

#29 Posted by DorkyMohr (184 posts) -

I'm pretty groggy from staying up last night to watch them reign in a cool million but man this was a hell of a charity stream. Brought a smile to my face seeing people react live to the 2poch. I'd definitely recommend watching the TASBlock "performed." I'm a sucker for those and to see it on real hardware was really mind blowing.

#30 Posted by TruthTellah (9471 posts) -

@dorkymohr: They're actually doing more TASbot right now on the bonus stream.

I just watched TASbot beat Zelda 1 like a maniac, and Zelda 2 is like a fever dream where TASbot has broken the speed limit on how fast Link can move, causing him to fly around like a jet through levels. Ha.

Definitely still more fun to be found in the bonus streams and I'll update the list of streams later to reflect what happens.

#31 Posted by D_W (1197 posts) -

Holy shit man. Great job getting this stuff together. I was having a real hard time trying scrub through the videos to find a game I want to watch.

Just watched Duckfist's Ninja Gaiden 2 sword only run. So tense. So great.

If you enjoyed the marathon and want to see more speedrunning, check out Speed Runs Live. It's a central hub site for hundreds of speedrunners on twitch. Really slick interface that shows you who is live, what they're playing, and how many viewers they currently have. Also go to the list above and watch all of PJ's runs and then go to his channel and follow him. He's the best. Plays all sorts of very obscure and usually very difficult games with hilarious commentary. Also, i'm not certain but I think he may be the most highly educated person in the speedrunning community as well.

Man, F-Zero GX speed run is pretty magical, because I played that game a LOT in high school, and actually beat most of the game on Very Hard after hours of trying it. But certainly not with the crazy physics tricks those guys have figured out.

Oh man, the part where the guy speedruns VVVVVV while they have Terry Cavanagh on Skype is just adorable. Because Terry is such a nice man, and his reactions to some of the strats speedrunners have found are really adorable.

haha. Yeah, the runs with dev commentary were almost all great. As you said, it was fun to hear Terry go "aw man.." and "I didn't even know that was possible" as the game was run. Definitely a recommended highlight.

@truthtellah: Ahh, my bad, didn't realize there are several games where they got devs. My italics are for nothing! What other games had interesting dev commentary?

Metroid Prime had some super-interesting developer commentary. I highly recommend it.

EDIT: Oh right, they also had Grant Kirkhope on for a bit during Banjo-Kazooie, and that was also great.

They also had the developers of Barkley Shut Up and Jam! Gaiden in attendance for that run. A must see, by the way.

Thanks a lot for doing this! I've missed a lot of stuff and dreaded going through the archives looking for specific stuff.
