RDR will probably last longer. Unless you're totally insane and go collect every single collectible in Alan Wake.

That said, i can get Alan Wake for $20 cheaper than RDR. But that's probably just me.

If you want the most content for your dollar, go with Red Dead.

Well Red Dead Redemption is an open world game with a lot of content to do. I heard it's around 15-40 hours, depending on what you go for.

Meanwhile Alan Wake is a linear but very well put together story.

Fuckin hell I hate these threads, decide for yourself mang.

Ive been checking out the quick look of RDR and so far seems like i will probably buy RDR then alan wake.alan wake looks great and all by might be a short game with hardly any replay value.where RDR has a lot more to offer then just story with alot of side quest and other things like hunting and what not so i think im gonna go with RDR and pick up Alan wake some other time.thanks for your help :)

Bought RDR because of the replay value. I'll just wait awhile and get Alan Wake through Gamefly.

They both seem great. Alan Wake is what I got this pay check. While I suspect RDR will have more to do, as a game and story I was more compelled to try it first. I will be trying RDR at some point though, dont get me wrong. Its just gonna have to wait. Thats my thoughts on that.

whatever you buy, make sure you PLAY Alan Wake. I'm almost done with it, and it might just have passed ME2 as my GOTY so far. Havent played RDR yet tho.

Both games are top notch.

Horror or open world cowboy stuff.

Red Dead gives more bang for the buck.  Will last a lot longer, has online ect ect
Alan Wake is just a spectacular game but it is more linear and has no online.

I bought Split Second, RDR and Alan Wake.  Actually Split Second has been sucking me in the most.  Alan Wake has sucked me in really well.  RDR I started but I seem to be drawn to the others more.   But RDR is in the XBOX right now and I am about to play it also.

Can't go wrong with either one but for value for the buck it is RDR all the way.  Why not wait 3 to 6 months and buy both when the price drops 50 percent.

Buy Red Dead, rent Alan Wake.  Alan Wake seems cool and all but not long enough to justify 60 bucks.

I hate these threads too.

@CarnageOverkill:

What kind of games do you like? That could give a good starting point...

I'd say Alan Wake, as i'm not very fond of the wild west. Also Alan Wake is an awesome game, mindblowing in some things. Has a very clever and woven plot.

@CarnageOverkill: If you really liked GTA4 go with RDR, because i've played about 4 hours and it is exactly that. Same clunky controls and movements on foot, also horses are really not that fun to ride in this game. It's still a great game though even though i fumble with the controls quite a bit.

Alan Wake is an amazing game and really intense through to the end, yes it's a much shorter game than RDR but i'ts amazing none the less.

I plan on getting both. I think Red Dead Redemption should last you a bit longer though, however Alan Wake also looks fkn amazing.
