Bad games you just happen to love
Valkyria Chronicles 2 while being superior in gameplay to the original is atrocious plot wise. It makes a great game a shit experience. Once you get past the 60 hour story and into the end game content it gets good again.
I know a lot of people hate it, but I actually really enjoy Final Fantasy XIII, I realize it doesn't hold a candle to some of the best games in the series (IV, VI, VII, VII, and X) but I actually have really enjoyed it, though that mostly come from the fact that I'm kinda in a shooter fatique at the moment and just want to play something else.
Alone in the Dark for xbox 360. Game was so bad but I ended up buying, sold cuz it was froze, then a year later I got it again and finally beat it.
Shadows of the Empire was awesome haha Except for the controls.
My game is probably Transformers: WFC. I played the living shit out of that game, and barely anybody else played at all. I was like 200th and climbing rapidly on the leaderboards when I finally hit a wall. I would honestly claim to be the most skilled player playing that game at the time, just not the most dedicated heh
Does the original have a better story? I'm thinking of buying it at some point.Valkyria Chronicles 2 while being superior in gameplay to the original is atrocious plot wise. I really love KOTOR I, but I enjoyed all of the characters, stories, mechanics, and just the overall feel of KOTOR II far more.

Seriously, the original is the pinacle of story telling in PS3 games. Also, 3 of the 4 DLC are fantastic.

@Rudyftw: DOA4 isn't bad! :( *sob*
if i like a game, i won't really consider it bad. with that said, however.. games i like that would be considered bad would probably be DRIV3R and Earth Defense Force 2017.
DOA4 is horrible. If it wasnt for the boobs it would be a broken game.

The first game's plot didn't involve being happy-go-lucky, all-is-well-in-the-world on your high school campus while implied genocide and civil war were going on right down the street. The second game's story, however, can be summarized as such. When you're not shooting at things as high school kids because of terrible political reasons ("We can't get the militia involved because they only handle wars with other countries and we've got nobody else but you kids to protect us!"), you're watching those same kids laugh and frolic their days away as though being combatants in a fight that's tearing their country apart isn't, you know, getting to them. I'm not saying the first game was inherently great just because it had a darker tone, but at least the cast in that game actually understood how screwed up things were. The second game attempts to do it in fits and spurts, but it can never manage to be remotely somber for longer than five seconds before the idiotic protagonist goes back to laughing his head off every dialog box because that's his one personality trait and that's how you know he can deal with any hardship. It's either that or the implied mascot moe girl shows up in an attempt to pander to people who probably shouldn't be playing the game in the first place.
The gameplay itself is still pretty great and it translates well to the PSP, but if you're looking for a good story to compliment that, you're in for some masochism ahead of you. As mosespippy said, it's when you reach endgame stuff that the trauma from the plotline finally disappears and you can be left to enjoy the game completely in peace. It's a great feeling, but it's still depressing that you have to wait so long to not be burdened by a story you're supposed to enjoy in the first place.
Porky Pig's Haunted Holiday for the SNES.
All you guys saying Deadly Premonition are BANANAS, 'cause that game is the best game of last year.
@Pepsiman: Yep, I spent a lot of time with Valkyria Chronicles 2 but its cast can essentially be described as a collection of every well worn anime trope that you can think of.
...And the grinding, oh god the grinding!
Its little wonder that they don't have faith in localizing VC3 after that, although I really wish they would. By all accounts its a return to form.
Edit: Ah, I didn't realise you own a copy, you'll have to let me know how it is.
Vivisector for it being just playable enough for me to be able to enjoy how hilarious it is.
I loved Lego Rock Raiders and Lego Island Extreme Stunts to death as a kid. I will also concur with the OP's sentiments about Alpha Protocol.
ohhh god.....ummmm I dont even tend to play shitty games these days as I dont have enough time to play the good ones often enough.
*thinking hard*
I think Aliens Vs Predator for the 360 was the last bad game i played. I thought my love for the films could see me through the experience but man parts of that game are really wack. Made me wish there was just one really good campaign as aposed to 3 mediocre ones.
AND SUCH A SMALL AMOUNT OF AMMO FOR THE PREDATOR SHOULDER CANNON !!!!!!! I MEAN COMMON!!!!!!! it didnt even recharge WTF! no no no I have to collect power supplies!??? what were they thinking

Also, Star Fox Assault is the best in the series, fuck you if you think otherwise.
Pretty much this. Never got why people gave it so much shit, just cause now it was actually a fun adventure game instead of a linear shooter? *shrugs* Also Army of Two comes to mind, not sure why i like it but i just do. And LOTR Two Towers for PS 2.
Not really a bad game, but I liked Far Cry 2 way too much despite its faults. I also loved The Saboteur which I think is more under appreciate than bad.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It had mediocre graphics, mediocre artstyle, mediocre history and mediocre sounddesign but fuck all that - I hadn't had so much fun in years.
I remember another game I enjoyed a lot some years ago: Carnivores. I wouldn't say it's bad, but it definitely doesn't hold up very well these days. I tried playing it some months ago, I couldn't stand it. And to think I was able to kill a T-Rex by shooting it in the fucking eye with a sniper rifle back in the day...

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (though I don't like the sequel, Red River)
Rogue Warrior (love is perhaps a too strong word, but I really like that game for it's extreme sillyness.
Jurassic: The Hunted (Three words: WHAT. THE. FOXTROT.)
Darkest of Days (While not a great game, I really liked it.)
Damn, I thought I was the only one that really liked Dragon Rising but hated Red River for the way they tried to streamline the experience and just made a bad game with no unique features. Uhhh I liked The Saboteur as well. The combination of climbing/shooting/stealthing/setting and art style, was something I had not found in many other games all together. Even if I hated the terrible voice acting, characters, and the uber-nazis with their Wolfenstein-esque style.
I also enjoyed the hand-to-hand combat, and the combining of all the stories of the films; of that Bourne game (the Bourne conspiracy I think it was called?) even if all the QTE stuff and the shooting were really kind of bad.
I find it silly to label games I enjoy as bad, but I enjoyed Brink, and that got a lot of negative press.
The Godfather 2, I S-Ranked it on the 360.
A bad game by any metric, I mean it had the lot, bland graphics, performance issues, repetitive gameplay, repetitive gameplay, slightly stupid story, rubbish voice acting, bad controls, numerous bugs, appalling and easily tricked AI and OK music.
But, for some reason, I saw it through, beat everything, and I mean everything, not just what was required to get the S-Rank.
I loved Viking:Battle for Asgard - whilst no one really thought it was terrible it was considered repetitive and the frame rate in the huge battles seemed to reduce to near single figures (which is silly as it was made by the Total War guys!), but my god it was so much fun chopping orks into little pieces until the final boss who was totally shite!!!
