E3 2012 predictions thread

Sony

• A value bundle for the PS Vita, which includes a 16GB memory-card. Also, a demo of Call of Duty for Vita.
• At least 5 minutes dedicated to that brawl-game which I can't even remember the name of. This has the most potential for memefication.
• Sony will either pack a Move-controller with every PS3 sold, or they will not talk about it at all.
• The Agent will finally be shown in trailer form at least, and it will continue to be a PS3 exclusive.

Nintendo

• So much Wii U stuff. They will reveal games, including the new Pikmin and Mario as well as teasing a new Zelda. No price or date however. Probably only a "Holiday 2012".
• The Wii's price will be dropped to 99 dollars.
• 3DS will be on the back-burner. A new Metroid game will be announced for it. No hardware refresh yet.

Microsoft

• Kinect, Kinect Kinect. Most notably they will announce a line of Kinect-only Xbox Live Arcade games.
• A long Halo 4 demonstration on-stage which will at first seem great, but will go on for way too long because MS is betting on this to "appease" the hardcore crowd.
• A new hardware refresh which makes the console the size of a Wii. This will be used to market the console even more aggressively as a home media center.
• New dashboard with a slew of new media partners.
• Wildcard: Windows Phone 8 shown for the first time, with announcements for exclusive games such as a new Viva Pinata.

I think you've pretty much nailed it, though I would swap out the Agent trailer with a live demo of The Last of Us, with a wildcard The Last Guardian trailer.

I think that The Last of Us is a given, and I really don't know about The Last Guardian. Also forgot to mention that the new Bungie game will be shown at Microsoft's presser.

Brad refuses to go to E3 as he has become obsessed with playing Diablo III for 18 hours straight a day. And He needs a stable internet connection at all times. ;)

Patrick is arrested and kicked out of E3 for breaking an embargo on the new Barbie game from mattel. He then decides to quit journalism due to "falling out of love with the games industry" And opens up an Retro games Arcade in his home city of Chicago.

I'd think Valve would want to put HL3 in consoles, and if they do, they'd choose a time when it is most profitable.

If you think Valve is concerned about consoles for releasing HL3, you're nuts. HL3/ep3 will come out for consoles, but Valve isn't going to base their release around that. That wouldn't even make sense. Their fan base is like 90% on the PC, and that's a conservative estimate.

Regardless of the distribution of the cult of Valve, many new players have come to know Valve through the console versions of Left 4 Dead, Portal 2 and through the Orange Box. It would be silly to alienate the sizable console market in any way, especially considering, as you point out, they have their PC base as secured as it can be.

Right, because not framing the largest and most meaningful (Especially to the PC community) release in the company's history around a console release is equivalent to "alienating the 'sizable' console market." And boy, with all of the success they've had dealing with content on LIVE and basic functionality on the PS3 I'm sure Valve can't wait to hop back in to the console market for their monumental release.

HL3 will come out for consoles and will not come out during the release window of said consoles. It's too big to fail in sales in any way but it is also too big not to maximize profits for. If you don't think so, that's OK. Don't get worked up.

@AngelN7: I would LOVE a Valkyria Chronicles HD collection. Preferably on Vita.

Microsoft's press conference is obviously going to consist entirely of nods to Halo 4 and Kinect tech demos that never come to fruition. That's about all I've got.

I'm really curious to see what's going to happen with Sony because I have no idea what they're going to pull out of their hat on the PS3 side. I assume the focus will be on the PSVita, actually. Besides more portable versions of game franchises that already exist, that's a wildcard. I don't have a lot of confidence, but I'd *like* to be surprised.

Nintendo obviously comes out with their flagship titles for the Wii U and more footage for those already announced for the 3DS. I feel like the hype for a new console launch, even if it feels like and old console launch, will mean that Nintendo sweeps the excitement this E3, followed by Sony, and then Microsoft.

Well the most ambitious thing expected would be the next episode of HL2 (episode 3), which people have been anticipating for a while now. I don't think you'd really be happy for them to announce the next Half Life now, and have it come out this generation, and therefore look like shit in just a year or two.

MS opens with Halo 4 and ends with CoD Black Ops 2, then really closes with something "surprising."

- More info or a teaser for Dead Space 3

- alot of Sly 4 will be shown 
- God of War: Acension will be shown(sadly the multiplayer too) 
- Maybe some info on FFXIV 2.0 on PS3 
- The LAST OF US!  
- EA talking about "Battlefield prenium" 
- HOPEFULLY a Mirror's Edge 2 announcement 
 - EA will probably show alot more of  The Secret World

I predict that there will be an unhealthy number of booth babes to compensate for everything else being horseshit this year.

The Halo 4 demo will end with them showing the Chief's face.
