What are some things you keep handy when settling down for a night of gaming? I'll have an energy drink usually, but occasionally like to have a black and mild, maybe a coors light. I find it keeps me a bit level headed when playing so I'm not flipping out because I can't find the bike parts (Dead Rising 2: Case Zero) or when you run into those damn annoying kids (Practically every Halo game).
Habits While Marathon Gaming
Nothing really, as I never plan ahead to have them but rather just decide then and there that I'm going to have one. Ideally when this idea pops into my head I will have a frozen pizza that I can pop into the oven a few hours in, or, even better, left over pizza to grab out of the fridge. Chips and pop are a plus. However when I plan to marathon run a movie series or a few seasons of some show I will plan ahead and make sure I have the pop/chips/chocolate/pizza on hand for when the time comes.
None of that energy drink crap ever does anything to me but put me to sleep, and the taste of the stuff makes me want to puke. As long as I get a few hours of sleep the night before I have always been pretty good at just forcing myself to stay up as long as I don't get bored. If I get bored though I go out like a light.
I like having soda...lots and lots of soda. If I don't have soda, i'll have a beer or sometimes a hot chocolate
For me, its less about food, more about having an enjoyable experience.
First, I make sure my schedule is completely clear.
Second, I do enough work so I won't feel guilty when I am done.
Third, I take care of any and all social issues (return phone calls, etc) so as not to be disturbed.
Then I like to take a shower and turn on the A/C, so I will be comfortable and cool. I'll usually put on gym shorts and a t-shirt kind of thing as well.
Also, to prepare, a day or two before I like to read message boards and watch some YouTube videos so 1) I can get myself psyched up and 2) so I don't need to stop to look something up.
But this also might reflect my age/ place in life, my chances to play games for longer than 1 hour in a sitting are few and far between, so I try to make the most of them.
Just a bottle of water. Maybe some tea because I'm a classy man. But always water with the tea. I feel dirty if I don't wash down the tea with water. Same with coffee.
Don't want any distractions.
i don't prepare besides putting on music or a podcast, i just sit down, start my game and go. about 12 hours later- "shit i gotta get to bed"
Man, how can people drink energy drinks while doing nothing. I would go into convulsions and die due to suppressed hyper-energy.
I don't eat while playing games as it gets the controller all greasy and plus eating while you do other things usually just leads to stuffing your face without even realizing it.
All I do when I get ready for a huge play session is I grab some ice water and then get down to playing. Energy drinks don't really have an effect on me (I don't drink much caffeine as it is) for some reason, although I really like how Red Bull tastes.
Last game I can say I really "marathoned" was MGS4. After that real life (job mostly) got in my way too much to spend more than a couple of hours per day. For that, though, I went out and bought a huge tray of Hawaiian BBQ from one of those places where it all tastes the same. Came with macaroni salad, rice, beef, pork, and chicken along with plenty of sauce. I got that and played MGS4 for about eight straight hours, just eating that when a cinematic was long enough.
In general when I stay up late to play games, I do it with liquor. A martini or anything with vodka. I've gotten to a point where it now keeps me awake rather than making me sleepy...not sure that's healthy.
" flipping out because I can't find the bike parts (Dead Rising 2: Case Zero) or when you run into those damn annoying kids (Practically every Halo game). "First part:everyone knows this feeling lol
fucking worst feeling u can get its just hopeless and pissed off
Second Part: Dude have you played call of duty
all of the kids moved on to call of duty
i dont even play xbox anymore but the only people talking on call of duty are annoyinglittle kids
most of the people that talk on halo ( in my experience) are only 30 year old hicks or 19-26 year old normal people
