Hosting a new Tekkit server

A question: what does the server have? As in mods also what if I have terrible ping. How bad would it be to play online?

To others that have requested whitelist adds, I'd rather keep these spots reserved for GB members (more users means more read writes / bandwidth etc. which I pay for). It's quite obvious that a majority of these whitelist requests are from users who registered solely for that purpose.

@SexyToad: The server mods are listed in the original post, but to lay it out it's as follows:

Permissions structure - (Determines what users can do what) - Essentials GroupManager

Block protection - (Can lock individual blocks / chests / machines as public or private) - LWC

Inventory protection - (Keeps inventory items when you die safe) - DeathChest

World protection - (To limit common griefing beyond what the whitelist offers with pubbie protection) - WorldGuard

Beyond these, as far as game changing things (game mods) - that's the Tekkit pack that makes things really different, I would visit http://www.technicpack.net for more details on this. (also uses a separate client than the default minecraft client)

I was a little sad to find I was not going to be allowed to join the server. I do understand why though, and thank you for explaining the reason.

I normally only view the sight with my brother, mostly because I am too poor to pay to see the exclusive content so I watch it with my brother. I have had a profile here for some time at least a year but because I had not logged in for some time I had to change my name because of a issue with getting back on to my name (which is shadowfight89). The original reason I made the profile is to do a strategy for Supreme commander II.

I just found out about this mod on youtube a couple of days ago and I've been trying it out solo. I didn't know there was already a GB server, but was gonna see if anyone was interested in one. Now that I've got some basics down I'd like try out some multiplayer. If you have any slots open add me.

Perhaps I could get a whitelist? Same username. I do love BC/IC/RedPower. Do you have any restrictions on EE? That EMC generation can get kind of crazy!

Server was down unintentionally, the price exceeded my instance bid and it stopped hosting my server then my image timed out and was lost. Was a little busy past couple of days and didn't see any notifications from amazon. I just finished up rebuilding it from the last file and folder backup before it went down which was around 6PM the 12th.

I set it as persistent request this time and I'll remember to set the alarms this time.

edit2: alright just booted it back up again and see that it's the wrong server image - I apologize guys I'll have to do work on this when i get up in the morning...

Ok, server is back up - worked out some more kinks a bit as far as the backups and overall stability are concerned. I'm now looking into improving the hosting situation a bit more.

I've re-added and updated the whitelist entries as well.

If anybody lost anything let me know and I'll spawn something in for you. Can't spawn in something you built but at least it's something.

Looks like the the server is down again.

Did anyone else have problems with viewing the in-game recipes after the last crash? It wouldn't let me look at the actual recipes.
