This is Howard Stern discussing "gamers", with soundbites and a mass amount of ignorance;
The question is; how right/wrong is he?
Personally, I believe video games are the natural progression of media (now accounting for 60% of the industry) and deserve to be accepted as the next evolution of storytelling, just as literature sprang from spoken stories and a large amount of television and film comes from literature.
Obviously being on a gaming site I expect the majority of you to agree with this, but it makes for an interesting listen all the same. His ridiculous mocking of "gamers" is unjustified, although it has to be said the soundbites he presents seem to have been selected as the most stereotypical "gamer" attributes - not knowing what an income is, or dressing as a character.
Coming from the UK, I've never listened to Stern before (he's an American radio host as far as I know, my knowledge ends at that) but he seems to be a real asshole.
Is he just trolling? What are GB's thoughts on the views of those such as Stern or in the general public/media?
Do you go out and show your geeky side? Or do you hide it away in "your parent's basement"?
EDIT: Put every instance of the word "gamer" in quotemarks to please those who seem to take offence at it's use.
