Duke Nukem
Quake
StarCraft
Is there a huge franchise that you've missed entirely?
man, quite a few that I've partially missed, and a couple full misses -
Uncharted and Starcraft being the two total misses I want to play pretty badly
Only played the first 1 or 2 of these games - Yeah I need to get a Wii someday. Probably gonna wait until the next Nintendo hardware comes out.
Zelda, Metroid, Super Mario Brothers, Civilization, Castlevania
Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy. Pretty much everything from Japan except for DoA 3 and 4, Resident Evil 5 and Demon's Souls.
Oh, also all PS2 exclusives since the only console I owned before my original Xbox was a Sega Megadrive.
Edit: Forgot to mention that I missed Metal Gear, Castlevania (first time I heard about Castlevania was when I was looking for Shadow Complex info), Gran Turismo and all sports games except for racing games, Speedball and Deathrow.
Hmm I know it's wrong, but any 3D zelda game just never resonated with me, even OOT I found could drag, and I just... never found myself digging how they played. It might just be my bitterness at a lack of a jump button, but then again Darksiders I found myself equally unmoved by. Really can't explain it, because I keep trying to start a new zelda game with the intention of finishing but I never do. I do love the 2D ones though. Love how those play for some odd reason. Call me crazy, but I think my favourite zelda game might be the capcom GBC one.

"really? that's cool i love the old ones too, i grew up on that shit. played the original recently and wondered how the fuck did i beat this shit when i was a kid!? haha
i've played all but the mobile versions and of all of them Wind Waker was and continues to be my favorite. that's right, i said it
" @ribeye said:i'm guessing it's age, those were staples and i played most of them" @pyromagnestir said:Seconded. Is there some strange correlation between those two that so many people here have missed both? Personal interest? Age? ""The amount of Zelda and Metal Gear in this thread saddens me"agree "
I don't think I've completely missed a franchise without first trying a title or two in the franchise and then being like 'yeaaaaa, no thanks'. That list is:
Legend of Zelda, Metroid Prime, Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, Left 4 Dead, Half-Life, God of War, The Sims, Gran Turismo, Forza, Need fo Speed, Dragon Quest, Resident Evil, Rock Band, Burnout...
Just looking at my collection, I actually own multiple copies of titles in each of those franchises and can't for the life of me figure out what the hell I was thinking buying them?
i have a ps3 and i haven't played the uncharted games yet. Oh and i only played like 3 minutes of mass effect so i guess those too
Aside from the first three, there's enough of Final Fantasy that I haven't played that I basically consider it as an unplayed franchise.
Other than that, Jak & Daxter, Tony Hawk (basically any sports franchise ever), Gran Turismo, Resident Evil and DOOM are sticking out for me. There's oh-so-much more, but I'd probably be here all night.
I have an xbox 360 and I have never owned a Halo game. I have only played a bit of halo 1's multiplayer at my friend's house, but that's it. I'm always enticed to buy it, but it never happens.
Also, Call of Duty. Always wanted to try Call of Duty 4, but again somehow it never happens...
For me its Mass Effect. I never had a chance to even touch a Mass Effect game, and i'm really eager to. I feel its absolutely necessary, since all the hype during the GOTY deliberation revolved around how amazing the Mass Effect universe was.
Mass Effect- Star Trek style sci-fi never really did anything for me
GTA- My parents never let me play it when I was younger, and I never really had a desire to when I was able to
MGS- No interest in the franchise whatsoever
Street Fighter- Never really went to arcades that much due to them being phased out when I was younger, so I never got addicted to SF
Any Blizzard game- Don't play MMOs, and the Blizzard style of RTS games isn't for me
Nope, i've been a massive game geek since the late 80s and I cant think of any popular game form I havent tried at least once. I feel this makes me qualified to hate games I don't bother with. I feel it's only fair to at least try it before I have an opinion on it which is why I've basically played everything that tends to be mentioned (popular or not).
It is possible something popular in another country, however, I did miss, but I can't name anything I know about that I haven't tried out (ergo played at least once).
Castlevania, many of my friends love it but I just couldn't get into it. Also Halo for the same reason.
Call of Duty (have played maybe 20 minutes total of any CoD game)
Shin Megami Tensei
Think that's about it, I've at least played a substantial amount of most "important" franchise games
The Final Fantasy series, I also had the gameboy one I got for super cheap and I just found it boring an dull...havent touched one since.
Wow, I'm really surprised at the number of people who haven't played Castlevania in this thread. Owell, it makes me sad, but to each his own. For me, it'd be:
Star Ocean
Phoenix Wright
Deus Ex (not sure if that counts)
Unreal Tournament
Dragon Quest
Battlefield
Elder Scrolls
Ratchet and Clank
Burnout
WOW
I guess thats more than enough to list :/
