Dante Alighieri. In all seriousnes though, I feel way too bias to be voting since I have never played a metal gear solid game. I probably will soon though.
@Godlyawesomeguy: MGS3 is awesome. I prefer it to 4, but I'd recommend playing both. Oh, and you should play the first one if you ever get to not only because it's a classic, but it has one of the most memorable boss fights with Psychomantis. I don't think I'd ever seen anything like it.

Conceptionally Master Chief is a cool character, the problem is the stories he's in aren't that great, though I did like the first one quite a bit story wise.

Well, because he is pretty badass in Dante's Inferno, regardless if he may be similar to Kratos. I also like the way he was in the poem though too, which he is in two different perspectives.

I would say Master Chief in this situation, depending on which snake. If you mean solid/old snake, then master chief. If you mean Big Boss/ Naked Snake, then big boss would win. The end of MGS4 ruined it for me. if he's so badass then
Nice competition here. They're both soldiers and clones. But I have to say Solid Snake. Master Chief is just nothing but guns. However, Solid Snake is guns and he can sneak up on you. Even when he's a gzillion years old (exaggeration).

Just for the record, I don't even own a PS3 and amazingly my experience with the Metal Gear series is all of about 4 hours. On the flip side I have owned every proper Halo game and played the hell out of them. Maybe it's just that I have been burnt out on Halo but the core fan base to me seems like a bunch of 12 year olds. While in Metal Gear, it seems like the fan base is probably a bit more mature. I'm not hating on Halo, it's just a fact that multiplayer shooters will attract more douches, and I don't like that.

In the same way I could all all MGS fans pretentious douchebags, that care more about story than actual gameplay. I see no reason to generalize a fanbase like that, especially with other FPS get just as many annoying fans. Killzone, Modern Warfare and even Counter Strike/Half-Life. I really don't understand why people seem to think Halo fans are somehow worse. Again, especially in forums, you see far more anti-Halo comments than positive ones.
