Nintendo Wii Beasts December - 3 Million Units Sold.
After disappointing sales during Black Friday, people thought it was part of a continuing downwards trend. Instead it sold 3,000,000 in the U.S. alone, what an incredible way to rebound. So.... Well done Nintendo!
" Disappointing sales on Black Friday? That never happened. Nintendo sold tons of Wii's in the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, once again beating the other consoles. "I mean compared to 2008. Especially since they sold significantly more than last year this December. Whereas they sold significantly less compared to last Thanksgiving.
" Disappointing sales on Black Friday? That never happened. Nintendo sold tons of Wii's in the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, once again beating the other consoles. "But still, it's easy to see why people would think it'd be less successful. The other consoles either had big price cuts (the Wii had one, too, but they did it more), eliminating a major factor as to why people play it. Then again, it still had widespread casual appeal...and Mario. That's my guess: Mario sells consoles.
" Wii is a fad and will be dead by Christmas.......2015. "Stop being so pessimistic!
I got a Wii for Christmas, looking forward to playing No More Heroes 1+2, Madworld, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Dead Space Extraction, House of the Dead Overkill, Super Mario Wii and Muramasa...Not a bad little collection i think!
Nintendo have said that there are now over 40 million DS's and 20 million Wii consoles being played across Europe. Wii has become the fastest selling home console in Europe by reaching the 20 million mark in just over three years (-Europe - 8th December, 2006).
And in Japan they reached these numbers on the week Dec 21st - 27th. Not bad for a system that's dying every other day.
|System | This Week | Last Week | YearToDate | Lifetime |
| WII | 215.129 | 191.915 | 1.962.367 | 9.441.344 |
| NDS | 213.109 | 183.347 | 3.978.953 | 29.098.588 |
New Super Mario Bros was, of course, the top selling title:

Really? WSR sold Wiis? I knew it sold Wii Motion +es, but not the actual system. Plausible, but still weird.
" @Willy105: Really? WSR sold Wiis? I knew it sold Wii Motion +es, but not the actual system. Plausible, but still weird. "Both Wii Sports are considered killer apps. People buy the console for that game. And those two games get people hooked into buying more and more games, and we know how it goes from there....
Relatively speaking, the Mario games are a later step.

I was just using a random game for the joke. It easily could've been Muramasa or No More Heroes or Darkside Chronicles. Although I feel like you already know this.

Pac-Man Vs. was the best fucking Pac-Man of last gen.
Oh. Those are less likely to be popular." @Willy105: I was just using a random game for the joke. It easily could've been Muramasa or No More Heroes or Darkside Chronicles. Although I feel like you already know this. "

" Is this just the Wii? Or are DS sales included? "
Just the Wii. If you include DS sales , you will pass millions.
