I kinda like the new look... Let's face it, the DMC series was in severe need of a reboot and this could do it. Although, none of the games in the series ever reached the loft heights of the original (although 3 was close in places but I just hated the enemy design in that game).
Another DMC game in the style of 4 would feel positively outdated. Agreed that the animation could use some work in the trailer and dude needs to bulk up, otherwise, I really don't mind it at all.
Some of DmC's story has been revealed. The new game will "depict a duplicitous world where nothing is ever as it seems and the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost. DmC will retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay but add additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalised gameplay system as players encounter the game’s devilish mix of enemies and navigate the rich, interactive environment."

I'm sorta glad that they're doing a reboot cause I wasn't expecting to have any further interest in this series.
With this said, I did not enjoy most of my time playing through Heavenly Sword so Ninja Theory still have a lot to prove before I get excited about this.

So so far we have the twilight game vampire may cry, more dead rising 2 dlc with Frank West, that one game that looks like some gods fighting each other asura's wrath, and shadows of the damned. Valkyria Chronicles 3 will be on psp but the director said that once they've made amazing ideas to further the series they will make a ps3 sequel which is a good sign. The Ico/SotC HD version has been confirmed and still no word on Last Guardian.

Last Guardian will probably be shown tomorrow at the Sony press conference. I'm pretty sure they said they would show something at TGS and that would be the time to do it.
I think he looks alright, if a bit emo. I wonder how much of Original Dante's background will carry over. Will he be a half demon? Son of Sparda? Have a twin brother?
Hell, at least it's better than a game starring only Nero would be, amirite?
Despite 4 being decent DMC had two directions it could take.
1. a reboot 2. a slow painful death.
Feel free to disagree but for me DMC had ran out of steam. While it is too early to tell maybe this new game will put some life back into Dante and the series.

I would also add:
3. His coat was redder and longer.
I don't know why but I'm mostly mostly offended by new Dante's coat. I could give a crap about the rest.

Yea I know that, I just wanted to put that in their somehow I can't wait to see it.
After going through several hundred comments at various websites I think I can call it: DMC is dead. Capcom needs to seriously take into account how people are reacting to this design change. I played all 4 games, but it seems like the true spirit of the DMC series now lives on in Bayonetta.
@thehexeditor: Atlus doesn't really "show" at TGS. They tend to have announcements right around it but no real booth. There is the Catherine trailer playing in the Konami and Sony booth (there are rumors of a slightly longer trailer) and some sort of special booklet out there on the floor that might have more Catherine stuff in it.
Is Twilight really so big in Japan that they'd model a character after the protagonist (even though he doesn't really look like him...), or is everyone just generically hating on an easy target? Don't get me wrong, I hate Dante's new look, but Jesus, it's just a look. If the game's awesome, it's awesome. Not much point in rebooting a series and keeping everything the same. Though there's not much point in "rebooting" a series that didn't really have continuity from game to game anyway.
I dunno about this Devil May Cry reboot. I'd rather they brought some kind of closure to the original characters first. Then again, I havn't played the fourth one. Without spoiling it, did anything happen at the end that was in any way a bookend to the series?

No, if anything it just opened the door for another sequel.
