Remember back when "extra lives" were called "extra men?"

Ahhhh good times. Wasn't about how many lives you had left. It was about how many men you had left. Where my boys at?!

Although, I guess a more relevant question now is, "Remember when games used to have lives?" Lol.

I wish I still could get extra men in my games!

lives, men, 1 up's.  it's just what some games/gamers called it.  kinda like how every now and then i hear someone refer to a leve/map as a "board".  whatever, we all still know what it means.

I mainly used that term while playing old Mario games but it still brings back some great memories.

I used to call the energy bars in games like Mega Man and number gauges like in Metroid 'power dots'

Men were traded for lives and lives have been traded for life and the life?  Well, it regenerates.  My we've come a long way.

i was born in 93... didny play video games till 98 so im guessing i havent played any games that use that term still

I never called them "men" or "lives", I always called them "1ups".

now we call em "checkpoints"

i always called them "guys".

Don't own a Wii but now that you mention it I guess New Super Mario Bros was the most recent one

I always called it lives. But I do have the habit to call every level in every game "world".

"Free man" or "free men" for things like World 3-1 in SMB.

And then Half Life came along and told us, there is only one Freeman. He must be used wisely.
