Salty just did some sort of crazy sodium economy bailout or something, because I went from the mines and back to 5 figures in a match that I bet next to nothing on. Seems like a lot of people are recording massive :bux: from nowhere.
@onekillwonder_: Spongebob isn't great; standard hitbox + attacks mildly aggressively; fake Raditz is also not great but not horrible either.
@tycobb: Payouts got fucked up for a bit, Salty Fixed it shortly thereafter (so some people had 10 times as much cash, personally one of my 5ks turned into a 30k), people just starting out don't know what to do with 300k so they All In still.

On an unrelated note: DBZ characters crack me up. Blocking every attack then randomly decide to charge and get their shit handed to them.

@tycobb: That whale is an absolute monster. It's lost twice, but only to the most broken of characters like Rare Akuma. Usually it's an automatic pick.
@mirado: It has losses? It must have lost when my video card fried last week. I am currently showing it as 8-0.

@mirado: WAIT!? When did those records show up? Last I checked it just had actual fighting game tournament players listed.... this changes everything! I will have to think about this. I may be able to increase my odds even more. Especially for the shittiest of characters by turning off betting for all those characters listed at 0 wins.
Hmm, I don't know if I can trust that. It has Shangtsung listed as 0 wins, but I have him down as a (2-5) record. There is a Shang Tsung listed as well, but that character does not appear in my database.
@tycobb: Since I started betting, so.....two days? Three? The catalog is apparently very deep; 2400 or so entries. It hasn't been updated since the 10th according to the top of the page, but I'm not sure I believe that as I noticed a few one win characters appear over the last two days.
Not sure if it groups multiple characters with the same name together, which might throw off your odds, but it would help weed out the real shit tier ones regardless.
@mirado: Every "player" in the stat page isn't actually a Mugen character since SaltyBet has been going on far before the AI vs. AI Mugen fights were a thing. I think the more accurate number is about 1,300+ chars initially and about 300 were added in the recent update.
@fluxwavez: Ahh, gotcha. Still, it should have the majority of the cast, right? I would assume you don't have to worry much about the non MUGEN characters as they won't come up for betting purposes in the Casino anyway.
@tycobb My evidence is purely anecdotal, but I've had a WAY higher hit rate following along with it vs ignoring it. Take that for what you will, but I've been able to rely on it pretty consistently with only a few upsets going against me.

Yeah, most of the MUGEN characters are in that list but it tends to not get updated in a while, it seems, so the newly added ones don't appear on it or they don't have fully accurate stats.

So I checked out for a few days. Does it seem like it takes twice as long between matches now? Switching to 2 new characters feels glacial now. And I swear it takes like 10-20 seconds longer to tally all of the bets and reveal the odds.

I imagine it at least partly has to do with server load. I remember the first day I tuned in, some of the regulars were impressed that the view count had gone above 2000 that day. Now it's 5000+ anytime I'm watching. And I know at one point Salty switched servers in the last few days.

Currently, yeah, it's taking quite a while. The waiting time varies dramatically and what's happening now might be due to server load.
Yeah, that Sakura/Sakura kinomoto fight was pretty epic. Got me back out of the salt mines. And someone bet 2.5 million on Sakura kinomoto, and now they're back in the salt mines...

People with cash rarely bet on even matches which leaves it up to the miners where even if you win it means nothing on a 1:1 odds match. There are upsets, it's just very rare, especially since most people who frequent there have seen a ton of chars and know the difference between variants.
I dunno it was kind of cool and fun as a novelty at first. It's just not all that now.

As of this posting, Kang has been fighting nothing for about 6 minutes now. The timer's broken and the opponent has disappeared. Life is losing all meaning, send help
