So, Wait, There's A New Contra Game Coming Next Week?
"Maybe old-school Contra just isn't that big a deal these days."Um, what? Yeah, I guess it wouldn't be on the Wii if it was a big deal? Pft! The DS got Contra IV, the Wii got Contra III VC and now this sequel of sorts, probably due to the VC sales of the former. I don't see the need to complain about any of this but that's just me, all out of touch as usual.
I love 2D games, they have a kind of innocent charm to them. Then they punch you in the face with diffculty.
I'd rather just buy a NES than either play on WiiWare or DSiWare, though.
Agreed, this would be a much more exciting release if it was headed to DSiWare. Could even be its first "killer app".
I loved Contra 4 on the DS. It woulda definitely been great to see this game on DSiware, but c'mon...
Wii needs some love every now and again.
"Graphics look kind of weird. Also, Al3xander3r, you are so dumb. Please just stop commenting. Brad said that because there was no announcement of the game or any hype, obviously he likes Contra a lot. Please go dig a ditch and promptly put yourself in it."Dude what the hell are you talking about, this is even a Japanese release, not NA or EU so what hype would YOU be seeing out of it? And since when do WiiWare games get any extra hype at all anyway, isn't the week they stay prominent as the only new release on WIiWare enough? That's the whole point of having the releases done in this manner, you know... Oh, it's you. Carry on mr moderator wannabe who thinks GB is his lawn.
Believe it or not, like the iphone, not everyone has a DSi. Making it for the Wii and possibly other online services is where this type of game is best served.
Where's Castlevania Rebirth? Or Jackal for that matter? A two player twin (quad?) stick shooter in the form of a new Jackal is perfect for this kind of release.
There was Contra 4 that came out not to long ago on the DS, perhaps that that game is still selling well enough that launching a similar (cheaper) downloadable game for the same platform would hurt the more expensive Contra 4 its sales. Might also be that there are no new Contra games on the Wii for the moment so there should be more people looking for a Contra fix on that platform.
O well, I'm just glad that they are doing this, hope it turns out just as good as Gradius Rebirth.
"Was Gradius Rebirth really that good? I heard it was basically a remake of Gradius with slowdown problems.I hope they make another full Gradius game like V on PS2."I only played it for a small amount so that must be why i have no memories of any slowdown. The game is quite a throw down back to the origins of the series so it plays pretty different compared to the latest Gradius, it's the same "problem" as with Megaman 9. It also had some basic online score sharing stuff and you could save your runs to review (aka boast about) them.
Contra however did not evolve all that much gameplay wise over the years so i guess that this game will be a bit more familiar to most people.
