With the holidays rapidly approaching and the end of 2010 coming to a close, what is everyone's favorite soundtrack of a game that released this year? Post some of your favorite tracks here. My personal favorite would be Nier. Within the mediocre experience I had with this game, the beautiful orchestral soundtrack kept me coming back. If you haven't played the game and experienced the spectacular music in conjunction with the action, I'd recommend you do so.
Neir - Temple of the Drifting Sands

Nier, no question

The Mass Effect 2 soundtrack is my favorite.  Second place goes to Red Dead, if only for how the songs with lyrics were implemented.

Nier, followed closely by No More Heroes 2.

That would be PPPPPP of course.

Yes, yes it was. Listen to this one if the first didn't sway you.

@kalmis: Fuck yes! I remember booting that game up the first time and saying to myself "this soundtrack is rockin!"

Halo: Reach soundtrack, hands down. I really liked "Ashes" and "We Remember" but the soundtrack overall is amazing.  Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood had awesome music as well, especially the music that played when being pursued by guards.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World, so many good songs.

Super Meat Boy, hands down

Super Mario Galaxy, did none of you hear throwback galaxy!

It's the Super Meat Boy Soundtrack for me. Just about all of those songs are winners with some pretty good variety in musical styles. Extra points for the retro themes you encounter in warp zones and the like. My favorite out of the soundtrack would be "Betus Blues", or the chapter 2 hospital theme. I feel like I could listen to that all day.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

God of War III was pretty awesome. But I just listened to that nier link you posted and it's awesome.

Red Dead Redemption or World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
And an honourable mention to "Life is Beautiful" from Deadly Premonition.

Hmmm, Scott Pilgrim had an awesome soundtrack.
I actually really dug the soundtrack for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. Now if only I could obtain it somehow.
Nier appears to have some great tracks as well, can't wait to play it.

It's a tie for me.
On the one hand there is Red Dead with it's superb instrumentation, great variation in themes, unbelievable dynamic music shifts that still feel like a score and not just ambient even though they are reacting to your current actions, location and the weather.
And then there's Scott Pilgrim, which is by freakin' Anamanaguchi!
I literally cannot choose.
Honorable mention goes to Super Meat Boy, but I thought the themes were a little too repetitive. Works well for the cheese-factor though.

Nier's soundtrack was great but it got a bit repetitive. My personal favorites this year were Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV, and Deadly Premonition.

As much as I love Deadly Premonition, Alan Wake had some awesome songs.

Red Dead, for the reason Tesla mentioned. Their use of lyrical music to accent certain moments was extremely well done and created, for me, some of my most memorable moments in a game.

Hmm this is a tough one for me.
While some of the tracks in Deadly Premonition are amazing, It has a bunch that I don't care for so I can't let the overall soundtrack be the winner. Love pretty much all the music in Scott Pilgrim and Super Meat Boy, but Mass Effect 2 is no joke ether especially some of those DLC tracks.
Its a close call but I'm going to have to go with Scott Pilgrim. It's 8-bit tunes are super addicting and fun to listen to.
If Giantbomb has a Soundtrack Category I hope they at least consider Scott Pilgrim. I know they were very dismissive of the game but they can't deny the awesomeness of the soundtrack.

actually, a remix album for nier just came out and it is also amazing:

Yeah, Nier!
Nier also gets my vote for both most underrated game and best character (Grimoire Weiss) awards

Mass Effect 2, if only for the track "Suicide Mission" - that track is a god damn masterpiece.

I have nothing to add to this.

Super meat boy or Comic jumper for me.

I liked Red Dead Redemption.

Nier's soundtrack is great, but for me nothing this year can beat Bayonetta's soundtrack.

#42 Posted by Flap_jackson (92 posts) -

#2: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game came out last year, the soundtrack came out this year, and it's pretty spectacular. Case in point:

#1: Mass Effect 2: Jack Wall is simply amazing. The Tron: Legacy soundtrack reminded me a lot of this, but all I can say is that Mass Effect did it better. Case in point:

Halo Reach had an amazing soundtrack. Though Halo  has always had stellar soundtracks so that was no surprise.

super meat boy fo' sho'.

#50 Posted by GunslingerPanda (4859 posts) -

Bayonetta, of course.

If Mass Effect 2's soundtrack had been more like the originals it would have been better, but the soundtrack it had was instantly forgettable.
