The Mass Effect 2 soundtrack is my favorite.  Second place goes to Red Dead, if only for how the songs with lyrics were implemented.

Halo: Reach soundtrack, hands down. I really liked "Ashes" and "We Remember" but the soundtrack overall is amazing.  Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood had awesome music as well, especially the music that played when being pursued by guards.

It's the Super Meat Boy Soundtrack for me. Just about all of those songs are winners with some pretty good variety in musical styles. Extra points for the retro themes you encounter in warp zones and the like. My favorite out of the soundtrack would be "Betus Blues", or the chapter 2 hospital theme. I feel like I could listen to that all day.

Red Dead Redemption or World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

And an honourable mention to "Life is Beautiful" from Deadly Premonition.

Hmmm, Scott Pilgrim had an awesome soundtrack.
I actually really dug the soundtrack for BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. Now if only I could obtain it somehow.

Nier appears to have some great tracks as well, can't wait to play it.

It's a tie for me.

On the one hand there is Red Dead with it's superb instrumentation, great variation in themes, unbelievable dynamic music shifts that still feel like a score and not just ambient even though they are reacting to your current actions, location and the weather.

And then there's Scott Pilgrim, which is by freakin' Anamanaguchi!

I literally cannot choose.

Honorable mention goes to Super Meat Boy, but I thought the themes were a little too repetitive. Works well for the cheese-factor though.

Nier's soundtrack was great but it got a bit repetitive. My personal favorites this year were Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV, and Deadly Premonition.

Red Dead, for the reason Tesla mentioned. Their use of lyrical music to accent certain moments was extremely well done and created, for me, some of my most memorable moments in a game.

Hmm this is a tough one for me.

While some of the tracks in Deadly Premonition are amazing, It has a bunch that I don't care for so I can't let the overall soundtrack be the winner. Love pretty much all the music in Scott Pilgrim and Super Meat Boy, but Mass Effect 2 is no joke ether especially some of those DLC tracks.

Its a close call but I'm going to have to go with Scott Pilgrim. It's 8-bit tunes are super addicting and fun to listen to.

If Giantbomb has a Soundtrack Category I hope they at least consider Scott Pilgrim. I know they were very dismissive of the game but they can't deny the awesomeness of the soundtrack.

Nier's soundtrack is great, but for me nothing this year can beat Bayonetta's soundtrack.

#2: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game came out last year, the soundtrack came out this year, and it's pretty spectacular. Case in point:

#1: Mass Effect 2: Jack Wall is simply amazing. The Tron: Legacy soundtrack reminded me a lot of this, but all I can say is that Mass Effect did it better. Case in point:

Bayonetta, of course.

If Mass Effect 2's soundtrack had been more like the originals it would have been better, but the soundtrack it had was instantly forgettable.
