That's exactly what I want out of a Team Ico game. Looks absolutely beautiful.
The Last Guardian Makes A Tokyo Game Show Appearance
I was really starting to think I'd outgrown console gaming until SOTC was finally released in Europe and I got to play it.
This game is probably the biggest reason I bought a PS3 and if it was just a visually updated version of SOTC I'd be more than happy but TEAM ICO will obviously go above and beyond that.
Still no gameplay... damn.
But the trailers look so good.
Actually, this is my second most anticipated game right now, peroid. God of War III is #1. :)
So far I haven't liked a single game that Team ICO has made. I liked their concepts, their worlds, and their art design, but their controls have done nothing but piss me off.
I hated that damn horse in Shadow of the Colossus, and fighting the colossi was nothing but a chore. I quit at the third one.
Cannot wait for this, I love Team ICO and I loved both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.
This is my reason to buy a PS3 as soon as possible.
The announcement of The Last Guardian has single-handedly destroyed my ability to logically deduce which console to buy. Right now the 360 is the one with the coolest shit, but the PS3 is really going to come into its own Q1. I want to play now, but I want to make sure to get all the PS3 stuff, including the Last Guardian, and two consoles in only few months is not a viable option.
Oh, and BTW, yes, I don't have one of them future consoles that the kids are playin' with these days: no money, and disapproving parents.
EDIT: How fucking cute was the kitty stretch and kitty scratch!
I dunno, there's just something that puts me off when it comes to the visual look of this game. It's like really detailed in some parts and then barely detailed at all in others. But other than that I think that if this is a really good looking game, and the "Guardian" definitely has a charming personality, much like the 4th, 6th, and 12th collosi did.
As long as it's not another 6 hour escort mission with horribly uninteresting combat. Yes, ICO is one of the most overrated games in history.
This may well be the game that gets me to buy a PS3. I loved ICO and SOTC. Whenever the concept of "engaging real emotion in games" comes up, I think of those two examples. That team knows how to suggest just enough to hook into your feelings like no other. The final, after-credits moment of ICO remains one of my all-time favorite gaming memories. I can't wait to see what they do with Last Guardian.
I already love the gryphon thing.
"Don't understand how people think this game is amazing already, that trailer was pretty poor tbh "
I will tell you how, you never played SOTC
So they're still using the miller's crossing music as the theme song for this, eh?
Monster reminds me of my dogs...awwww....
Anyone have any advice for tracking down a copy of ICO for less than $60? Ebay is brutal right now and my local Gamestops don't have a single copy. (and by local I mean all within 30 miles)
I loved Shadow of the Colossus (actually, I'd have to say its one of my favorite games of all time), but nothing I've seen about this game has grabbed my interest....maybe because we have no idea what the gameplay will be like, it sure as hell wont be the story that'll grab me for this one (since we all know one of the 2 characters will die in the end).
" Hey, climbing up monsters as they swing around violently. Haven't seen that before. "Well it is the third game in the series after all... That's like saying of Gears 2 "shooting aliens from behind cover. Haven't seen that before!" I can't wait to see something more substantial released about this game, day 1 purchase for sure.
" After having taken a look at the images in the wiki, I have come to the conclusion that Ueda's use of light and shadow is really quite masterful. "hell yeah. these guys are really great. they dont always have the best textures or polygon count, but they are extremely good at making their games look above and beyond anything else out there.
" @FlipperDesert said:I don't know that sounds way too predictable to me after other events in a certain game...Ueda did say he wanted to surprise people, so I trust he will come up with something interesting." That creature is going to die at some point in the game and after that I will be dead inside. "Eeeeeexactly "
That said, for some reason I cannot get excited over this game. I'm not sure what it is-Ico and SotC were masterpieces (though ico is still my favorite), but this one is not flipping any switches for me. Maybe it's partially because the game seems so much "warmer" than the first two, if that makes sense. Ico and Colossus were very isolated worlds where, despite having a sidekick you always felt quite alone. Also, I'm not getting any sense of subtle epic-ness like I did in the past games.
I know I'm in the minority though. We'll see.

That must be it, when i saw the first trailer for this at E3 i was like "WTF?". Guess it's a very niche game like Final Fantasy(or any other japanese franchise), if you haven't played the previous games in the series then you won't understand this one.
Well, seeing as i don't own a PS3 and i'm not buying one for this i am indifferent towards this game.
" As long as it's not another 6 hour escort mission with horribly uninteresting combat. Yes, ICO is one of the most overrated games in history. "Dude, ICO isn't just a game-it's an experience. Wandering the castle and looking at the subtle interactions with Yorda are as much a part of ICO as the puzzles and "escort mission" are.
But yeah, it's definitely not for everyone-and I don't mean that in a derogatory way. i could totally see why some people wouldn't be into it.
" Anyone have any advice for tracking down a copy of ICO for less than $60? Ebay is brutal right now and my local Gamestops don't have a single copy. @Jedted: uhh, what? Final Fantasy definitely ain't niche. People are excited for this game because of the last two ico game's reputations. If you still have a ps2 around it couldn't hurt to grab a copy of Shadow of the Colossus.
