Personally I felt Mario peaked with Super Mario Bros 3, even though Super Mario World, 64 and Galaxy were all excellent. The other two I'd agree with. In fact I'd say Nintendo, for the most part, peaked during the N64 generation. Afterwards, their series'  seemed to go downhill a bit, besides Metroid, which I felt peaked with Prime.

Zelda no?! Please explain? If you don't think OoT is the best Zelda game then you are very strange O_o

Mario Galaxy was good. I beat it and all, but it just didn't have the awesomeness factor that Mario 64 had IMO.

I don't think OoT is the best Zelda =P. I like Majora's Mask more. But yeah, I agree Star Fox and Zelda peaked on the N64.

Starfox peaked on the N64 but went down since then. Im waiting to be rejoiced! Zelda peaked on the N64 and sort of stayed firm since, Mario peaked on Wii with Mario Galaxy. I still think Galaxy should of been released later in the Wii's life time.

Mario's best game was Galaxy, and Zelda TP was almost as good as OOT. IMO.

Can't disagree with Star Fox, but I can disagree about Mario and Zelda though.  I'd say Zelda peaked at A Link to the Past, with a slight drop-off to Link's Awakening (although these 2 are pretty much 1 and 2 in any Zelda fan's minds), but with Mario...Mario Galaxy was definitely better than Mario 64, but I'd still take Mario 3 over Mario Galaxy.  So there's a no on that one as well I'm afraid.

I completely agree with you on Zelda and Starfox. Mario on the other hand is tougher. Super Mario World and Super Mario Galaxy give Super Mario 64 strong competition.

It depends on if you're talking about 2d or 3d. For me, both types of games are just too different to be counted in the same category. The general consensus us that Mario 64, Zelda OOT, and Starfox 64 are the best games from their respective series. But here's my own personal opinion:

Mario: My favorite game was always Super Mario Bros. 3. Super Mario World was also very good, but I think 3 holds up as a better game just slightly. But even then, I'd have to say that Mario hasn't had it's peak just yet. Mario Galaxy isn't perfect, but it is amazingly fun and pretty innovative.

Zelda: My hands down favorite game still remains A Link to the Past, but I still can't say that was the series peak. If by peak, you mean the point where the games started going downhill, then I'd say the peak is Wind Waker. If you mean just the most kickass game, then A Link to the Past. Believe it or not, I'm not in the majority that is in love with OOT, but that's probably because to this date, I haven't been able to keep interest long enough to beat it.

Starfox: An easy call, even for someone who hasn't played all too much of any Starfox game out there. Starfox 64 is pretty much the end of that series, in my mind. I haven't played a lick of it, but I remember watching gameplay walkthrough videos back in the day, so I've seen pretty much the entire game played through.

I would agree definatly with Starfox. I did not enjoy Twilight Princess that much as OoT or MM so I see your point there. But I don't know about Mario. I say it is too close to call between Mario 64 and Galaxy.

I agree that Starfox did... though I'm waiting for Starfox's Wii release... right Nintendo? Right? :D Which I hope will be nearly as good as SF64.

The other 2 though, I can't really judge though...

I've never played OOT due to the lack of a N64 and I haven't played Galaxy yet... I hope it's good :)

I partly agree.
Starfox peaked...

Zelda has not peaked, and neither has the Mario franchise.
Don't confuse a small divot in the road to be the descending side of a mountain, I expect each series to only go up from here. ^_^

Star Fox I know for fact did peak because here in the UK Star Fox suffered a name change due to some stupid company wanting to sue for similar rhyming names.
And as a result of it being late, people never caught on and stayed intrested, but then Star Fox 64 came out, again with a name change but people gave it a go and saw how much it had refined the gameplay from the first and how real it looked at the time lol.

Personally my favorite Zeldas are on the consoles before and after the N64 (honorable mention to Majora's Mask). But Star Fox? For sure the N64 version is the best, sooo dissapointed in the Gamecube one (assult or something, not the dinosuar game)

Dude, you're a Nintendo fan and you haven't played the best game ever made in forever and all of the universe?!

P.S. if you don't have an N64 you could get it on the virtual console.... NOW!!

Starfox, yes.
Mario, hell no; Galaxy is the best Mario game I've ever played.

Peaked at Starfox 64: AGREED

Peaked at Mario 64: Eh, I like galaxy more.

This is the strange part, but I think that while OoT was amazing, the series peaked at Majora's Mask.

Elaborate on the Majora's Mask thing, because I know people that agree that's where the series peaked I am curious as to why.

Majora's Mask is a total classic because it takes the greatness of OoT and mixes it up a bit and creates a totally new experience worthy of being a sequel to the greatest game ever made period!
