Hey guys.
After recently losing my first full match of Civ V in a catastrophic way, I realized that I'm simply terrible at strategy games. From Starcraft to Plants VS. Zombies, anything that removes me from direct control over the game environment causes me to die death after horrible death, wondering all the while how my opponent manages to have so many freaking troops.
My question is: do you have any types of games that you just can't seem to grasp for the life of you?
What games do you suck at?
I seem to be terrible at the Assassin's Creed games, but I have no idea how that works. Whenever people watch me play they always bring attention to the amount of times I fall off buildings and lose half my health, but I just thought that was normal. I don't really suck at any multiplayer games though, so at least I can keep my failures from becoming embarrassments.
Seriously, how can I be so bad at Assassin's Creed? All it is is pressing a button and a trigger to climb! How do I fuck that up so terribly?
RTS, fighting, racing, and sports games. I can't micromanage very well, so I get destroyed in anything but basic RTS play. I've never been good at fighting games and resort to button mashing. I'm not terrible at racing games, but I have no chance in the sim racers without brake guides. I just don't play sports games, so I assume I'm no good at them.
Honestly, I don't think I'm particularly terrible at any kind of game. I failed missions pretty regularly in GTAIV, but I believe that's a rather specific case. I guess games mainly revolving around puzzles can be difficult for me as I'm an idiot.
Sports games too, I suppose, but that's just because I don't care and I'll just mess around when I ever play any.
Halo 3 and Halo ODST; I was pretty good at Halo 2, but man did my skills deteriorate by the time Halo 3 was released. I'm just terrible with that game.
There have also been plenty of games that I played a lot single player -- back when online console gaming wasn't as common -- that I thought I was raw as fuck at. Only to learn when I took it online sometime in the future that I was not nearly as good as I had thought. (cough, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, cough.)
As for entire genres, I'm also terrible with puzzle games.
I'm awful at any sort of strategy game, from RTS's to hardcore RPG's (Dragon Age or something).
All of them.
Well, I'm better than your average guy at some. But any serious player will handily beat me. the only possible exception is Guitar in Rock Band...but I play guitar so that doesn't really count.
RTS games, can't stand them so that doesn't help
However love Turn Based Strategy like Final Fantasy Tactics
I'm absolutely terrible at Civ, but I love playing it on Easy because it's still really fun.
I'm bad at COD against my friends, but fairly decent against strangers.

Thats how I play but I think its Ezio fault for controlling like shit ." Whenever people watch me play they always bring attention to the amount of times I fall off buildings and lose half my health, but I just thought that was normal. "
But for me I suck at
Lastly any strategy game thats harder that make more dudes that the other guys.
Any games that require me to process large amounts of information at once and act upon it. So basically RTS games are my least favourite games, at least outside the single player mode on normal difficulty. I love thinking about shit, so in that sense strategy is up my alley, but I like to take my time - I guess my mental agility stat isn't high enough.
If I had a say in it, most games should be turn based.
I can play em competently but I simply do not have the reflexes for multiplayer FPS's anymore. Fighting games to lesser degree, mostly the really frantic shit like MvC2.
I'm proficient at everything. Except Black Hawk Down: Team Sabre. For some reason, I just could never get kills online in that game.
I'm not great at RTSes, but then again I've only ever played 1, and that was a game that crashed every time before the rounds ended in exhibition mode. I'm sure if I picked up Civ V or SCII I'd be able to pick up the system quickly enough.
Oh, and also Madden. I suck at madden.
Any game that requires precise control, like in a shooter, when I have to play it on a console. I was also bad at fighting games that require you to memorize 50 button combos and crap like that. My mind just can't remember that kind of stuff.
RTS. I'm alright at the occasional fighter but for the most part I struggle with them. I can't wrap my head around RTS games though, I hate to sound like a fratty bro but I'd much rather play on Xbox or PS3. Also pretty much anything that doesn't involve joysticks I'm pretty bad at. Maybe it's all those years constantly playing Halo but trying to put a bead on a guy with a mouse and keyboard just doesn't work very well for me. Not hating on PC though.... I wish I was good at Counter Strike.
I suck at fighting games, though I wish I was better. It's just that I don't have the time and will to practice and memorize all those combos and learn how to fight against a certain kind of character. I can barely learn 2-3 combos.
I'm horrible at RTS games, and also pretty awful at anything driving related. Consequentially, I own very few of either. Even Burnout Paradise became unplayable for me after a while.
I'm pretty bad at fighting games. I haven't put too much time into them, but I wasn't very good whenever I would play them.
Games like Super Meat Boy. I get really into them, but I am horrible at the series of precision and timing. It usually ends up with me throwing my controller.
