What was your favorite thing about the VGXs?
@irrationalbee's anti-Patrick thread.
"remember this event was for the gamers," was how Geoff Keighley stated when everyone kept asking about Fallout 4 or Half Life ep 3 trailers. So this is what he firmly believes what gamers wanted.
Honestly, did you think they took bathroom breaks? 3 hours and 20 minutes long, or was that what Geoff was doing when he stared blank into the camera after someone asked him a question.
When Joel asked Geoff what games he didn't like, if any, and to name one. Then Geoff just retreated into "PR mode."
McHale not giving a shit and then actually asking some OK questions only to have Geoff freak the fuck out.
And No Man's Sky. Other than that it was a shit show.
It was painful. At least the concert at the end was nice to listen to while browsing the internet.
I thought this was the worst part of the show because I really hate this kind of music.
As for the most favorite part: No man's Sky trailer. This game looks really great so far.
Upon deep reflection, I'd say I enjoyed talking about its terrible moments with Giant Bomb chat and later writing a thorough summary of it. My favorite thing was sharing in the spectacle.
It's hard for me to imagine Geoff going to the bathroom. There were so many layers visible, there were more under that. Just layers upon layers upon layers just an infinite void of layers. So I'm concerned for his colon at this point, his belly and bad posture are a product of poor health and lack of exercise. The jokes about him being dead on the inside might be even true so we can't pretend to be sad when the inevitable happens

Is this real? Please let this be real
I did like some of the game announcements like No Man's Sky and I guess that Borderlands Telltale thing maybe. Other than that and...
Joel McHale not giving a shit.
That's about it. This was the first VGA/VGX I ever watched in its entirety (mostly) and it was utter shit coming from all sides.
My favourite part was the part where I turned it off. My night was significantly more enjoyable after that.
@naru_joe93: I wish it was, I wish it was, I wish it was. Nope I believe it's not real, just clever photoshoping.
I'd say the announcements, but I don't think that an award show is the proper venue for that at all. The whole thing is a confused mess. It wants to be E3, the Academy Awards, and the VMAs all in one. At this point they might as well strip away the awards thing and just turn it into their own E3 or something.
I was going to say to say nothing but as others have pointed out, that Joel/Banderas gif actually was very funny.
And when you see that compared to all the other jokes and videos that went on, it's just such massive gap in terms of humour. I actually laughed at the part in the Mega64 video when they mentioned Nintendo having a new console out and one of them asked why they didn't tell anybody. That was kinda funny, but the rest of it was poor.
joel banderas, no man's sky guy seeming like he really loves what he does, as well as no man's sky looking awesome
edit: also i spontaneously became in love with the woman from respawn
The fact that everything interesting from them could be condensed down to the 2 minute trailer for No Man's Sky. No need to waste three hours on that.

They could, but it probably wouldn't work out that well. Companies saw fit to reveal things there, but a lot of what was revealed weren't exactly bombshells. I think it would be better served if they just dropped the desire to hunt down those exclusive reveals and actually focus on putting on an awards show that doesn't make the viewers want to curl up in embarrassment from just watching it.
@kirillorlov: Why would you seek that out?
no man's sky guy seeming like he really loves what he does
His sincerity gave me some hope for the format of the future. The awkward acceptance speeches by folks from Irrational were pretty good too.
@amyggen: I'm addicted to crap? I'll check out the teasers and trailers. Looks like @mosespippy is saying No Man's Sky is the highlight?
While brief, that trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was pretty fantastic. I also enjoyed seeing the multiple mech classes in Titanfall as well.
In was in no way worth the 3 hour run time though.

I'd prefer your idea, but I don't think they have much interest in that. Seems like they don't have the confidence in their writing staff (maybe rightfully so) to pull off an awards show that can float on its own merits. Instead they get off with bribing an audience with "14 world exclusives" and fucking hashtag hostages.
