I have been reading Nintendo fans saying that M$ riped off the Mii's. M$ fans point to Sony taking Live and bastardizing it. Sony fans just can't stand when games like GTA or FF appear on other systems. Oh and by the way, M$ is apparently stealing from Home too.
Guess what people, M$ didn't invent online gaming. Nintendo didn't create the avatar. Sony didn't invent the idea of a virtual world (in fact, I have seen no proof they will ever have one :) ).
Point is, everyone steals from everyone else. If there wasn't "The Godfather" there would be no "Goodfellas" or GTA. If there wasn't a superman, we wouldn't have X-Men or Spiderman. It's what makes the world go round. It's a smart move to incorporate something successful into your product.
Would you say that Live is just a Xband rip off? Is the Wii just a souped up Magnavox Odyssey? No, then everyone needs to get over it.
When will people understand this?
They do indeed, good ideas are still good ideas regardless of where they come from. When the big three take ideas from each other all that happens is that the audience of that platform get a better experience, so its all good. Like the FF13 announcement, it'll allow a hell of a lot more people to experience the joy (hopefully) of a great game.
Hypocrites are apart of life. I think I am the only one who thinks that every console should have most every game. No one own online gaming. No one own avatars. All companies are entitled to these products.
Word. I hate it when these kids at school are like "Microsoft is STEALING this idea"
I wanna punch them in the face several times until they are in an ICU
Im so fed up with console war, that if every fanboy I ever came across were in front of me, my head would explode from rage
"That's fanboys for you, though I have to admit I love seeing them fight each other, its very entertaining. Also the M$ thing is pretty stupid since all companies want to make as much money as they can, just like $ony, and Nintendo (can't find a way to put the dollar sign in).I actually choose Microsoft and play my 360 more than anything. The M$ thing? Old habits die hard I guess.
"
Like most before me said this is primarily fanboyism. Evolution is a way of life. Without incorporating the ideas of others, the industry wouldn't be thriving like it is today. Accept it and enjoy what the nature of competition does for us gamers. It doesn't hinder it only helps.
"What's with the whole M$ thing? They're rich I guess. This year they made like over 60 billion dollars I think.
