Usually a game like Zelda is hit or miss. So... what's going on?
Why is Skyward Sword getting mixed reviews?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I think all Zelda releases receive mixed reactions, especially within the Zelda community, but I think any differences in reviews are because:
- Every Zelda game is divisive because everyone has a different idea of what a Zelda game should be like, and not everyone will like whatever changes or decisions the developers don't or do make.
- It's designed around motion controls, which some people just hate.
- It's not HD.
Are you referring to Patrick and X-Play's 4/5 reviews? I mean, that's not quite MIXED, it's just that some people don't think it's supremely excellent. I'm looking forward to hearing what Patrick has to say on the podcast, but it sounds like (for non-Zelda fans) it's not considered super-awesome. It's bizarre, but I can't totally answer as I haven't played it yet. Check out the podcast, hopefully it'll have some answers.

You call a 95 on metacritic "mixed"?
Well, anything that isn't a perfect 10 is "this game fucking sucks", so do the math :P.
Your username and icon is Playstation, you have a green name and your first post is regarding the reviews for Skyward Sword. I don't know what to do...
Twilight Princess got a 9.7 on Gametrailers, while Skyward Sword got a 9.1. That's why I think it's odd.

ya 9.1 is a good score but everyone knows GT's cutoff for "amazing" is 9.4-up
Im getting my torch and pitchforks now. Anyone joining me ?
You're going down Keighley !!!

@Playstation said:2 different scores? One of them is obviously lying.A B+ from 1up & 9.1 from GT is odd to me, that's all.
LOL !

Oh, for real? Here I was thinking your supposition about "mixed reviews" was crazy, and then you went a quoted two relatively more high scores, and I was like, "Oh! I can see how someone would think 'mixed' from that as compared to the numerous perfect scores it has received from other establishments!"
Seriously buddy, this is not what "mixed reviews" means.

Oh! Well now that you say that I totally understand!
Wait... nope. False alarm.

This has to be that ResidentEvil guy
lol that's exactly what I was thinking. In any case, what's with these 'new users' making controversial threads right off the bat? I'm not sure if this is some troll trying to get a rise out of some people, but either way, give it a fucking rest. Think before you type.

ya I know I'm onto something, didn't you guys know Twilight Princess got a 9.7 on GT? a .6 drop, when there is obvious improvement, says something.
I hope you were trying to be sarcastic in this response. You know, as the original poster was.
Is no-one else freaking out here that playstation has become sentient and is a fan of the Xbox. Bigger things are at play here!

True that.

Ban him, lest the stupidity of these posts infect the whole forum
I'm kind of starting to hate Metacritic and everything about it lately. Yeah, Jim Sterling is right on the money when he says 10s are becoming the expected score. But it's only because the market so hostile that any game not scoring in the high eighties or low nineties can't move copies. It is getting ridiculous. Something has to happen...

I can't believe you guys don't see anything wrong with GT giving Skyward Sword a 9.1 while IGN gives it a 10/10, yet GT also gave Twilight Princess a 9.7, while GT gave it a 9.5The GT review is dubious and made more dubious after you listen to their recent podcast, but why care about one bad review, when there are numerous reviews clearly showing you the game is great?
It's not even a bad review, score-wise. It's a fucking 9.1. A god damn 9.1. That's an excellent score. Jesus Christ.

Here's the problem, as it has become apparent that you aren't going to figure it out.
You wrote, "Why is Skyward Sword getting mixed reviews?" This implies that there have been mixed reviews for Skyward Sword, which everyone has pointed out to you is false.
Apparently, what you should have wrote was, "Why did GT give Skyward Sword a 9.1?" That would also qualify as a "dumb" question, but at least one that is not ridiculous and false on its face. You might have had more people actually addressing what you wanted to talk about then instead of people just calling you out for the thoughtless post.
As mentioned in the previous posts I find it ironic that your username is Playstation yet you have a green name.... Goddamn
@Playstation: Ah, ok. Now I do get it.
You saw a couple scores, interpreted a B+ and a 4/5 as "mixed" scores, then ignored the vast majority of the scores which claimed it was fantastic.
Then, rather than accounting for these discrepancies as idiosyncrasies in reviewers or just minor adjustment for personal taste from review to review, you assumed that these small deviations from the norm amounted to a gross error which threw off the entirety of reviewing opinion, leading to Skyward Sword now being a "mixed" game (With a 95% metacritic score, which I'm sure you knew, because I'm sure you did your due diligence and researched the scores before making this post).
Now, if you still can't see why your post doesn't make any sense, I really don't know how to help you.
