Wolfenstein: The New Order announced (Bethesda/MachineGames)
So we can definitely expect Hitler in a mecha-suit?
You play as Mecha-Hitler.
Gotta say that's one of the better uses of All Along the Watchtower I've heard.
Game looks pretty tight as well. I'm down for Varric blowing up Nazis.
...interesting...
That's pretty much all that I can say for now.
Well, OK, that's not all. I also want to know if the developers are going to set a super-serious tone or not. I don't think this game could work with a super-serious tone, but it couldn't work with a Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon level of stupidity either.
Regardless, this teaser has my interest piqued. Can I please, for the love of God, hold all of the fucking guns at once? Please? Don't cut that out of this, the series that is often credited with starting FPS games!
Incorrect. This is what the PS4 version will look like:
MachineGames is the studio of former Starbreeze people, so it might not be unreasonable to expect something in the vein of the Darkness/Riddick games in terms of tone.
if that's bj blazkowicz then are we REALLY supposed to believe the nazis have forgotten about him? i mean he uh...killed hitler and a lot of other stuff after all
@thunderslash: You got me excited for a squad-based TPS before I saw the trailer. I see what you meant now, but still: aww.

Almost spit-up my coffee all over the monitor after seeing that! Nice work!
I'm ready for a dumbed down on rails shooter unlike Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I would love to see the game have complex map design, classic shooter mechanics, and multiplayer like RtCW or W:ET
It's always confusing when Bethesda is teasing something then it turns out it's a game published by Bethesda Softworks and not really related to Bethesda Game Studios.
That's what Bethesda's mysterious release was? Wow, did not see that coming. At all. Oh well, could be interesting. I find the notion that Wolfenstein somehow manages to drag itself along with the advancement of video games all this time without anyone really caring that much about it since, well, Wolfenstein 3D I guess, strangely appealing. Sure, Return and Enemy Territorywere pretty popular in their heydays but they always seemed to play second fiddle to Counterstrike.
This is the grand-daddy of FPS shooters after all. Having it pop up at unexpected times now and then gives the genre a nice little lineage.

It's obvious why they do it. Look at the comments for this game and you see "Developed by Bethesda, awesome! Loved Skyrim." It happened a lot with Dishonored too.

The double-edged sword of this is that others will assume this game is gonna be a bug-laden mess because they believe it's made by the guys that did Skyrim. I guess it means people are talking about it, regardless if it's positive or negative responses.
@beachthunder: Yup, nailed it. Also thanks for the laughs of the day.
I'm psyched. I've been excited to see what Machine Games has been working on for a long time now. Let's hope that the ex-starbreeze guys still have it.
How is what I just saw related in any way to the Wolfenstein franchise?
What, you mean mechs, nazis and an groupd of people dealing with occult stuff?
It has everything to do with the Wolfenstein franchise.
That was a genuinely awesome teaser trailer. If they work off of that tone, it could be cool. A good Wolfenstein game would be really cool.
Awh hell yea! I'm guessing that green-world won't be back this time. Still, they look like robots you would get in a Spider-man game. There's still a certain awesome vibe to it though.
Am I the only person who enjoyed Wolfenstein?
@you_died: Nope, I really enjoyed the game. Enough to play it 2 or 3 times in a row when I was still in my streaming days. Occult stuff was neat. Going between dimensions was a nice little quirk. And basically just shootings nazis in the face with KAR-98s. If you told me I couldn't leave my house until I played straight through the game my only response would be, "Where's my pizza?"

I'm a big Wolfenstein fan but I haven't played it yet. Totalbiscuit says it is really good though. I need to play it.

You're the hero this industry needs.
Also, if this is anything like the other Wolfenstein, I'll grab it for £3 in a sale, play it once and forget all about it.
If they actually go balls-out with a Man in the High Castle setting, that would be really damn cool. I also miss killing Nazis in first person shooters.
So glad to see more Wolfenstein. Finished Wolfenstein 2009 a few months ago and it has some of my favorite combat of any FPS to date. Also there was a slight tease at a sequel after the credits, so I wonder if there's any connection there.
