Guess that was the teaser. Weird the announcement comes so soon after though.

So we can definetly expect Hitler in a mecha-suit?

You play as Mecha-Hitler.

So... kinda like Freedom Fighters?

Neat. I'll shoot Nazi robots to a 60s soundtrack, I don't think I've done that before.

#9 Posted by Oldirtybearon (4851 posts) -

Gotta say that's one of the better uses of All Along the Watchtower I've heard.

Game looks pretty tight as well. I'm down for Varric blowing up Nazis.

...interesting...

That's pretty much all that I can say for now.

Well, OK, that's not all. I also want to know if the developers are going to set a super-serious tone or not. I don't think this game could work with a super-serious tone, but it couldn't work with a Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon level of stupidity either.

Regardless, this teaser has my interest piqued. Can I please, for the love of God, hold all of the fucking guns at once? Please? Don't cut that out of this, the series that is often credited with starting FPS games!

Incorrect. This is what the PS4 version will look like:

MachineGames is the studio of former Starbreeze people, so it might not be unreasonable to expect something in the vein of the Darkness/Riddick games in terms of tone.

if that's bj blazkowicz then are we REALLY supposed to believe the nazis have forgotten about him? i mean he uh...killed hitler and a lot of other stuff after all

#15 Edited by Winternet (8025 posts) -

Is this Wolfenstein 3D, also known as the best FPS in history? No? Moving on.

#16 Posted by Ghostiet (5289 posts) -

I am actually excited. I know that this won't have Enemy Territory multiplayer, but I really enjoyed Wolfenstein '09 and this trailer is genuinely good.

#17 Edited by Veektarius (4922 posts) -

@thunderslash: You got me excited for a squad-based TPS before I saw the trailer. I see what you meant now, but still: aww.

#18 Posted by FonkyMucker (153 posts) -

Incorrect. This is what the PS4 version will look like:

Almost spit-up my coffee all over the monitor after seeing that! Nice work!

What!

#20 Posted by flasaltine (1684 posts) -

I'm ready for a dumbed down on rails shooter unlike Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I would love to see the game have complex map design, classic shooter mechanics, and multiplayer like RtCW or W:ET

#21 Posted by Brodehouse (10080 posts) -

So it's going to be a Wolfenstein game full of goofy first person interactions.

It's always confusing when Bethesda is teasing something then it turns out it's a game published by Bethesda Softworks and not really related to Bethesda Game Studios.

#23 Edited by Nivash (241 posts) -

That's what Bethesda's mysterious release was? Wow, did not see that coming. At all. Oh well, could be interesting. I find the notion that Wolfenstein somehow manages to drag itself along with the advancement of video games all this time without anyone really caring that much about it since, well, Wolfenstein 3D I guess, strangely appealing. Sure, Return and Enemy Territory were pretty popular in their heydays but they always seemed to play second fiddle to Counterstrike.

This is the grand-daddy of FPS shooters after all. Having it pop up at unexpected times now and then gives the genre a nice little lineage.

#24 Posted by flasaltine (1684 posts) -

It's obvious why they do it. Look at the comments for this game and you see "Developed by Bethesda, awesome! Loved Skyrim." It happened a lot with Dishonored too.

The double-edged sword of this is that others will assume this game is gonna be a bug-laden mess because they believe it's made by the guys that did Skyrim. I guess it means people are talking about it, regardless if it's positive or negative responses.

@beachthunder: Yup, nailed it. Also thanks for the laughs of the day.

How is what I just saw related in any way to the Wolfenstein franchise?

#28 Posted by gelatinabomination (184 posts) -

I'm psyched. I've been excited to see what Machine Games has been working on for a long time now. Let's hope that the ex-starbreeze guys still have it.

#29 Posted by altairre (1215 posts) -

Maybe gameplay will get me interested but all I can say at the moment is that I don't care.

#30 Edited by Funkydupe (3321 posts) -

I don't see the appeal in this IP at all. I often find "SOMETHING" to like about "ANYTHING" but... meh. By all means good luck to them.

#31 Posted by ZeForgotten (10397 posts) -

What, you mean mechs, nazis and an groupd of people dealing with occult stuff?
It has everything to do with the Wolfenstein franchise.

#32 Posted by MordeaniisChaos (5730 posts) -

That was a genuinely awesome teaser trailer. If they work off of that tone, it could be cool. A good Wolfenstein game would be really cool.

#33 Posted by jaycee13 (523 posts) -

I like the idea that even if the Nazis where still going strong in the sixties, Jimi Hendrix would still be making that sweet sweet music.

#34 Posted by MariachiMacabre (7099 posts) -

Good use of a great Hendrix song. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. It was a good teaser.

#35 Posted by Blu3V3nom07 (4235 posts) -

Awh hell yea! I'm guessing that green-world won't be back this time. Still, they look like robots you would get in a Spider-man game. There's still a certain awesome vibe to it though.

#36 Posted by YOU_DIED (703 posts) -
#37 Posted by Yadilie (380 posts) -

@you_died: Nope, I really enjoyed the game. Enough to play it 2 or 3 times in a row when I was still in my streaming days. Occult stuff was neat. Going between dimensions was a nice little quirk. And basically just shootings nazis in the face with KAR-98s. If you told me I couldn't leave my house until I played straight through the game my only response would be, "Where's my pizza?"

Am I the only person who enjoyed Wolfenstein?

I'm a big Wolfenstein fan but I haven't played it yet. Totalbiscuit says it is really good though. I need to play it.

#39 Posted by Seppli (10251 posts) -

Outside of the music, this does nothing for me thus far. I felt quite similar about The Evil Within reveal trailer. Give me some gameplay, and we'll talk.

You're the hero this industry needs.

Also, if this is anything like the other Wolfenstein, I'll grab it for £3 in a sale, play it once and forget all about it.

#41 Posted by Bollard (5666 posts) -

Sweet, now I can stop caring about it.

#42 Posted by Butano (1746 posts) -

I still need to play Wolfenstein '09. Loved Return to Castle Wolfenstein on the first Xbox, so I'm optimistic about this new entry. Hopefully it'll be better optimized than Rage was on PC. Hot damn was that a mess.

#43 Edited by jerseyscum (899 posts) -

If they actually go balls-out with a Man in the High Castle setting, that would be really damn cool. I also miss killing Nazis in first person shooters.

#44 Edited by Turtlebird95 (2497 posts) -

So glad to see more Wolfenstein. Finished Wolfenstein 2009 a few months ago and it has some of my favorite combat of any FPS to date. Also there was a slight tease at a sequel after the credits, so I wonder if there's any connection there.

#45 Edited by joshthebear (2700 posts) -

Eh, okay I guess.

It'll play like Q4. A short way in it turns into full on mecha-BJ..... You heard me!

#47 Edited by DigTheDoug (178 posts) -

Judging by the music choice, Wolfenstein is now a Vietnam era game?

#48 Edited by tonyp2121 (169 posts) -

I'm definitely interested but without actual gameplay footage theres no real tell of how the game is yet. Still though this is certainly on my "watch out for" list.

#49 Posted by TheManWithNoPlan (5808 posts) -

I keep getting my hopes up for Fallout 4. They'll announce it one day. Anyways, this could be interesting. It's yet another game on the exciting horizon of the games industry.

#50 Posted by TheHT (11526 posts) -

too bad it's not prey 2, but i'm more interested after that teaser than before it.

i'm getting a real casshern vibe from it, but with pulp.
