Fellowship was best because there was a beginning, middle, and end.
two towers and return felt tacked on
does anyone agree?
I'm currently going back and watching through, some of the effects don't hold up too well. Hopefully the bluray will fix these issues when I get it.
I hated fellowship. It was too slow. Nothing compelling happens for the majority of the film. It was all build up, and hardly any pay off until the next movie, by which time I had forgotten about all the build up and had to relearn what was going on. The Two Towers was much better, it was really enjoyable. And I've never seen Return of the King, so I can't comment on it.
" I haven't seen the movies, but I think the hobbit is the best lord of the rings book :P "Just so that you're aware, whilst The Hobbit acts as a semi-prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, it isn't actually part of that trilogy.
" @Laketown said:I know that, but it's still directly related to the regular trilogy so whatever" I haven't seen the movies, but I think the hobbit is the best lord of the rings book :P "Just so that you're aware, whilst The Hobbit acts as a semi-prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, it isn't actually part of that trilogy. And I think that each of the films have their own pros and cons but my favourite would probably have to be either The Two Towers or Return of the King."
" None of them? I couldn't watch any of the movies for more than 30min and I like fantasy. WTF? "Dude, I watched Fellowship of the Ring 3 times within like 3 days. Once normal, another rime with director/writer commentary, and then a third time with actor commentary. Man up and watch it all of the way through! :P
I recently marathoned the extended editions of all of them, and I honestly didn't care for them as much as I did when they first came out. All I know, is that I hated the King the most. I still think that the way they end the big battle by having ghosts kill everyone was really cheap and anti climatic. Three movies built up this hard fought war between good and evil, only to have some dam invincible ghosts win it for them? I was ready to walk out of the theatre when that happen back when it first came it. I t really took the punch out of that series for me.

"I thought the ghosts were only available for a single battle before their souls were freed or whatever. I was more concerned with how that damn Eagle seemed to get a whole bunch of characters to Mount Doom with zero effort. What, did the Orcs have AA guns or something?
" Fellowship. The movie is perfect. That ending is powerful, I swear it made me shed a tear the first couple of times I watched it. But yeah I agree, from Sean Bean, to the acting, the musical score by James Newton Howard, this is the first fantasy movie that I believe was nominated for Best Picture and that Fantasy movies do not have to fucking suck."
