Do you talk to yourself?

So I just wanted to throw this question out there to see if I'm the only crazy motherfucker who does this. So, I've found out over the years especially through high-school that I learn way better aurally by hearing people explain shit to me rather than reading it from a text book or anything. Now as the title of the thread reads I totally talk to myself quite often.

I know to some people this is insanely strange. The reason I led off with my explanation of my learning habits are frankly because as I've tried to examine why I do this I think its a direct cause of that I aurally ingest information better thus by "thinking" out loud to myself quite often I find it helps me parse my thoughts and sort though them way easier. I have no clue if this makes sense at all. So I was just wondering if anyone else did this. Because really more than anything its me just audibly sorting through my thoughts more than anything else. I'm often by myself as well so that most likely adds to the mix a bit too.

So I just wanted to see how many of you actually do similar things or if I'm just kind of the odd man out in this scenario.

Yep, I do it for pretty much the same exact reason you do. It's just the easiest way for me to sort out my thoughts, helps me think straight. I'll only do it when I'm alone, but I've gotten a few weird looks for it from those I live with who may have heard me from another room or something.

I didn't use to talk to myself but I've made the uncomfortable observation that I've started talking to myself more and more over the past few years. It's still not a regular thing, but it's scary whenever I noticed I've done so.

I think I learn in a similar way to what you describe, but up until recently I could vocalize those thoughts in my head without actually saying them out loud, something I've found I have a harder time doing these days.

Quite a lot, actually.

Not in the way you do but I do talk to myself a fair bit. Most of it is doing impressions so sometimes when I'm trying to do someone new I'll spend the entire day talking out loud. And you'll end up saying weird things that you'd never normally say. When I was learning Noel Fielding I ended up describing things really weirdly and made myself laugh so much.

I talk to myself out loud in a high pitched voice cause I've gotta train my vocal chords to make lady sounds.

Organizing one's thoughts out loud is pretty common.

From time to time I do.

I tend to worry about my future alot. Since I've placed myself in a bad situation that effects my life, and if I don't try to resolve it then I'm fucked plain simple. Working out helps put me at ease and keeps stress from getting to me. Now before I would start having weird suicidal thoughts. I kept thinking about the past wishing I could change things, and I would beat myself up about the bad decision I've made.

Nowadays I don't even try to let it get me down as much. I know there's people having the same problems, and some of them are worse then mine. So I can't complain I'm just happy about the moment. I'm just glad that I have a nice place to stay for the time being, before I was living in a shithole with alot of noisy fucked up people.

I will occasionally catch myself saying unkind things about the decisions I make.

I probably need actual professional help, really.

Edit: I'm actually watching the last episode of the Vinny/Jeff Deadly Premonition Endurance Run right now, so this topic is especially relevant to me.

Pretty much this, I do when I'm organizing thoughts sometimes, or unfortunately when I'm pissed at someone/thing in the moment but that I'm trying to work on.

I think there are more people that talk to themselves than those who don't.

I organize my thoughts by speaking and often commentate on things I do. Helps me stay focused and shit.

I play games on PC, I spend half my "game time" talking to myself on how to fix shit.

I talk to myself all the time. I live alone in a trailer. I used to do it before once in a while, but it's a hard motherfucking fact of life now.

Yeah, I do by myself. It's fun. I also make up songs and narrate my life sometimes.

I talk to myself because I imagine it's more entertaining for the people who are secretly watching my life on tv, like in The Truman Show. It's not crazy at all.

I sure do........... or do I just speak out loud to myself like "what the fuck is this bullshit!?" or "I wonder if this porno has Mark Wood in it, if so I will skip".

I blame 90's spiderman. He did it so I started too, now its impossible to stop.

I had to consciously stop myself from doing this exact thing while taking tests in math and engineering classes back during college. I find that talking through a problem out loud helps me make sure that all of the relevant details are considered.

I do but a vast majority of the time it's in my head. I think the only times these thought processes have manifested themselves out loud have been when they are particularly intense and methodical and on occasion when I'm very stressed out.

I do this a lot. I bet it would look really weird from the outside, but it's just a thing I do almost constantly.

I talk, sing, and make dumb noises to myself constantly and I love it. And when I play video games alone I will usually talk out loud as though I am the voice inside my character's head. I prefer that to silence any day.

I talk to myself all the time in my car, usually just trying to work stuff out or think about what I'm going to say to somebody later.

I talk to myself, but never in front of anyone. I'll talk to myself whenever I'm alone feel stressed and need to calm down. You're not alone by any means.

Yep. Any time I have to manage complex tasks with lots of moving parts (writing comic books, playing games, planning my day) I'll talk it out. My dad would always give my mom a hard time about it, since she's the same way, but clearly it gets results - she can manage complex systems way better than his silent self can.

Oh yes. Especially if I'm frustrated with inanimate objects. Like if vacuuming and the cord drags a lamp along by accident, or if say I open a can of soda/beer/whatever and it happens to explode all over me.
