I think the gift card is a good idea. I know of a restaurant she frequents. I was trying to avoid a material gift so that might work quite well.

Yeah you're right, now that I think about it it's kind of dumb. I don't know then, I'd have to know the person a bit more maybe they have some sort of inside joke and he could give her a gift related to that but apart from that I really am out of ideas.
@Osaladin: Tsunami @Goly: There is no inside joke. Its a completely professional relationship. I just wanted to get her something as a way of saying thanks. I've been going to her for about a year now.
