Especially now its review of the year time and everybody is accusing everybody else of personal prejudice it would be wonderful if we could start to get this right. Saying someone is 'bias' is like saying they are 'scare' instead of 'scared' or 'tire' instead of 'tired.'

Giant Bomb is a wonderful website but everytime I see 'bias' in the comments it reminds me of IGN. If we could add getting this minor point of grammar correct to our New Years Resolutions it would make an old pedant very happy.

As dull as I might sound, I agree. Being a grammar police is never fun but those small inaccuraties is like being stabbed in the brain. If you find a clever word but don't know how to use it, DON'T USE IT. We will be a culture of slack-jawed idiots soon enough, you don't need to rush it.

I'm swedish but the argument is just as relevant here.

Do you know what languages do over time? They evolve. If people want to lop the 'ed' off the end of 'biased' then you'll just have to live with it; the evolution of the English language does not widespread retardation make.

That's not to say that correct use of traditional English is a bad thing, absolutely not, but you'll simply have to learn to come to terms with the fact that you are an unimportant grain of sand in the hourglass of language, try as you might to block the flow.

Yes, It's a valid argument and I have considered it many times. But neglecting common rules in language is not always evolvement.

Take "Bias" as an example. Don't you think people in a 100 years will question why there isn't an -ed in the end of "bias"? These rules makes the language easier to comprehend and, thus, more accessible for everyone to use, even if you're new to the language. Rule exceptions in languange is really bad, in my opinion. But of course, I agree with evolution in some cases.

@Thompson820: the only problem I have with that logic is, most words spelt wrong over the internet isn't due to evolution.. it's laziness.

Anybody that matters won't want to lop the 'ed' off of 'biased' though, because that's plainly a stupid thing to do. Keep fighting the good fight I say - stupidity prevails when smart men do nothing.

The worst language based misconception is the thought that "Jethro Tull" and "Judas Priest" are the names of the singers of those bands.

I love all the people in this thread nit-picking his grammar and spelling when all the guy wanted was people to stop using "bias" instead of "biased." Then you have the pricks in here that decide they are smart enough to trump a little wish from someone when all it does is make them look like an asshole.
