skip ahead to 1:10 for pure awsome
Edit: how do I post a video? or is that not possible
Mythbuster's paint the mona lisa in 1 second
"I'm not sure what the big deal is...so they had a bunch of barrels each loaded with the appropriately colored paintball and some compressed air. I was actually more impressed by the robot that painted a smiley face."Well there has to be an assload of precision calcluation that goes into the creation of the machine. That's what's so impressive about it.
The whole thing is essentially supposed to be a metaphor for the graphical processing power of a CPU vs. GPU. The point itself may be moot since software rendering (which relies on CPUs) is used only in specific situations today, but it's supposed to show that a GPU, with its dedicated purpose, can process graphical data much faster and with more complexity to boot, too. At least, that's true within certain situational bounds.
Essentially, it's as if they took two versions of Doom 3: one rendered through CPU and one through GPU. The GPU wins hands down because the CPU would be bogged down by additional computations in addition to its graphics rendering, therefore hindering graphical quality and frame rate.

Wouldn't a robot like that be awesome for graffiti, you could just roll it up beside the building and push the button.
"MB said:MB already made 4 of those things. Didn't you see the video?"I'm not sure what the big deal is...so they had a bunch of barrels each loaded with the appropriately colored paintball and some compressed air. I was actually more impressed by the robot that painted a smiley face."
If it was so easy why don't you do it?"
