I really feel like I'm the only one who gets annoyed when people insist that Barack Obama is black.
It's always first black president this and that . And there is always a lot of focus on it .
But the fact is, ladies and gentlemen, Obama is not black .
I'm sure everyone knows this, but for some reason they just can't stop looking at him as "the first black president".
Why are people so persistent on this ?
Obama isn't black .
" hes black compared to white people so he's black "BAM
And aint that a shame ?
I think the reason why it gets me fired up is because I'm mixed myself .
And people rarely recognise me as mixed. I'm black whenever someone needs an extra for a basketball game, and I'm white whenever I go to Africa .
lol who cares if he's black or not? shouldn't people be more concerned whether or not he's doing the right thing for the states?
Its not the fact that he's black that people get excited about. Its his serious care for this country, if you follow him on twitter he sounds like a crazy conspirist, always talking about the corporate take over of the senate, its fucking awesome.
Too put it simply, even though he is half white-half black, the perception of him just being black stems from segregation and earlier when even if you were 1/8th black, you were still listed as black.
" Let's have a look see to see why people think Obama is black:Haha I love this I need to get it on a t shirt.
There. I don't think race is such a big deal, but when you are the president of the US, it is. "
if you go to England, same thing.
if you go to the Caribbean, you're Brown/Red depending which island you visit.
If you go to South Africa, youre mixed blood.
if you go most other places in Africa, you're considered white.
It depends on where you live, and so what if he's considered black in the US. shouldnt that be a good thing?
" I really feel like I'm the only one who gets annoyed when people insist that Barack Obama is black.I didn't know you were the authority on how people perceive their racial identity. I have a South African friend, who is also an American citizen, that claimed that he was African American on a college application. He is of dutch ancestry, but was born in South Africa. He believes this qualifies him as being African American. Who is anyone to tell him he's wrong? Race is a social construct that has no real merit.

" He has black in his DNA no president before him has had that therefore, he's the first president with black in his DNA it's shorter to say he's the first black president so he's the first black president. "No,he has Red in his DNA.
"Come on. Really? Does there really need to be a thread about this? This thread will go down the shitter faster than you can say locked. "
Ps even if he is half black.. he's still black, does it really fucking matter what colour he is?
" @kajankua said:I remember that story. Made me really lol for some reason. Just like how Lewis Hamilton is the "First Black Person in F1", because he has a Black Father and a White Mother, but I still consider him still to be the "First". I respect him for how well he races, but still, he has Black heritage, and therefore I consider him at least somewhat Black.
Conversely, Danica Patrick has a man for a father and a woman for a mother, so she's not really the first woman in IndyCar...
I remember my Grandma telling me it was a huge deal that Kennedy was Catholic in the 60's. So a nonwhite president is still a huge deal.
Both of my brothers and myself are half-white, half-Filipino. Our cousins from my mother's side of the family are also half-white, half-Filipino. Now, the genetic dice throw dictated that my side of the family all look white, while their side of the family all look Filipino. Result: I'm white, they're Filipino. Does it matter? I dunno, I'm white so my opinion on the matter doesn't count, but I'll ask my cousins later, they'll probably fill me in, even though one of them is pretty much a Glenn Beck fan. Haha!
He's whatever he wants to describe himself as. Tiger Woods says he's black, but Derek Jeter and Mariah Carey both say that they are multiracial. All of them have one black parent and one non-black parent. Here is a website of other famous people who are of mixed heritage. What they choose to think of themselves as is their own prerogative. It's only improper when other people label them as something disallowing all other possibilities.
